US President Donald Trump told Russia on Monday to end its Ukraine war within 50 days or face massive new economic sanctions as he laid out plans for new infusions of weaponry for Kyiv via NATO.
Trump said he was "very, very unhappy" with Vladimir Putin, underlining his insistence that his patience had finally snapped with the Russian leader's refusal to end his three-year-old invasion of Ukraine.
"We're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don't have a deal in 50 days, tariffs at about 100 percent," Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

“That 100% is for secondary sanctions on buyers of (unspecified, presumably oil) Russian exports.”
That was not the statement.
In fact POTUS has ruled out secondary sanctions...at least for now.
President Trump, in his own words, in front of the cameras with Mark Rutte:
“But we’re very, very unhappy with them and we’re going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don’t have a deal in 50 days, tariffs that are about 100 percent. You’d call them secondary tariffs. You know what that means”
LOL, so is Trump now a "Zeeper".
Support OUR President.
Damaged souls.
Yes PresidentTrump explicitly and repeatedly said that they will be secondary tariffs. As such, they would in fact be showstoppers for Russian oil exports.
Also from the President’s statement (transcript here: https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/transcript/donald-trump-remarks-bilat-mark-rutte-nato-july-14-2025/)
“So based on that, we’re going to be doing secondary tariffs if we don’t have a deal in 50 days”
Then, during the Q&A:
Question: What about the tariffs that the Republicans and the House and the Senate have, right? They have 500 percent. Why are you doing 100 percent?
Yeah, sure. Well, the Republicans are moving very strongly in the Senate, giving us total control of it, but I’m not sure we need it, but it’s certainly good that they’re doing it. And Lindsey Graham’s working hard, John Thune, all of them. They’re all working hard and they’re in coordination with Mike Johnson, Speaker in the House.
And I think they are — they’ve actually crafted a pretty good piece of legislation. It’s probably going to pass very easily, and that includes Democrats, and there are some little tweaks. But I don’t want to say I don’t need it because I don’t want them to waste their time. It could be very useful. We’ll have to see.
But we can do secondary. We’re probably talking about 100 percent or something like that. We can do secondary tariffs without the Senate, without the House, but what they’re crafting also could be very good.
Question: So are you suggesting then that the Congress should move forward with those sanctions, the 500 percent and that your 100 will be a separate additional package?
Yeah, I mean the 500 is sort of meaningless after a while because at a certain point, it doesn’t matter. It’s not going to be — 100 is going to serve the same function. But yeah, I have it at 100 percent. They may have it — I don’t know what they’re going to end up with. They may have it at 100 too. They may have it at 500, but they’re doing some good work in the House.
And as you know, they’re coordinated. And they can have it done quickly. They said they’ll have it as quickly as I need it, so we’ll see. We’re talking to them. In fact, John Thune is coming over later on to talk
“Yes, that breathless, worshipful comment he made, gushing about the Military Industrial Complex disgusted me to no end as well. There is something off about these people.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
You seem to be unhappy of Tump’s powerful pro-Ukraine stance and anti-Kremlin statements.
I urge you to do what I do. Support Trump and his policies. Support his decision to revive the Western Military Industrial Complex. Let’s be proud of it. Trump is proud of it.
If you are unhappy about it, send your complaint to Trump, not me.
I’m just the messenger who 100% supports Trump’s national and foreign policies.
NOTE:
“Donald Trump asked Volodymyr Zelensky if Ukraine was capable of striking Moscow in encouragement of more long-range strikes inside Russia.
The US president told Mr Zelensky that he wanted Ukraine to “make them [Russians] feel the pain” and force Putin to the negotiating table, sources told the Financial Times.”
“Volodymyr, can you hit Moscow? ... Can you hit St Petersburg too?” Mr Trump reportedly asked on the July 4 call.
I presume you don’t support Trump’s way of thinking these days... ?
It’s Trumps War now. I don’t support this war. He will have to deal with it,
as he has made it HIS War.
Do you really think anybody with an IQ above “zeeper” buys the absolute garbage you spew?
I’ll give you points for entertainment value, though. 😄
50 days of free hand for Vlad.
Why 50? Why not 60? Or 20? Or 10? Or next week?
Production and delivery of any new missiles is one year out. Our stocks are at around 25% or enough for about 4 to 6 weeks supply

“50 days of free hand for Vlad. Why 50?”
Several very important reasons, key among them are managing the oil market to avoid a price shock, and allowing time for negotiation with China and India (as well as between them and Russia).
By D-Day (4 September), the Saudis are just about on track to raise their production to fully displace Russian exports. The end of the Summer driving season also brings a seasonal reduction in demand, to further smooth the risk of a price spike.
In September, the oil fields of the Yamal Peninsula will be experiencing freezing nights, and the ground will be frozen in October. If there is a back up of oil flow then, it will be an emergency to minimize destruction of infrastructure - just as they are deprived of revenue to pay for the required people and equipment.
Of course, the trade deals with India and China would have to be re-worked, if we impose 100% tariffs on them over Russian oil purchases. 50 days is a short time frame for that (unless they agree to not buy Russian oil, which is the likely result).
The last time Russia’s oil infrastructure suffered widespread freeze damage, it took 32 years to restore production levels, with extensive help (millions of man hours, and half of the capital) from International oil majors.
Now Russian fields are more depleted and less productive than back then - significantly less attractive to long term investment.
There is a huge Strategic risk to Russia to lose its oil export market share, long term.
It would likely be raining Russian elites, “falling” from windows.
Both countries suck. They're hyper corrupt crapholes filled with people who'll do anything - and I mean anything, for a few shekels. I've worked closely with both Yooks and Russians. Couldn't stand them, and damn sure couldn't trust them. Always on the take, always have some sort of con going. America should hold both countries at a distant arms length.
Not a single penny of Americans' hard earned tax dollars should go to Yookland, especially not to pay government salaries and pensions there. It's time to walk away and let Europe handle the mess. Yookland's not America's ally. It never has been and given the homo Zelenskyyyyy's anti-Trump machinations, it isn't now.
You love endless war and endless death. So, go pick up a rifle and head to the front lines to defend the garbage county of Yookland that you've been shamelessly shilling for for years here. Why have you not done that yet?
Hey, Timber Bunny! How's things over there at that neocon/ GOPe forum you insult Jim Robinson on? BTW, say hi to the world famous Bear Slayer from us all! You two belong over there with the rest of the Trump-hating, war mongering, Yook-slurping dirtbags who inhabit it.
You can always tell when there’s been a Summoning over at the Zeeping Room. They all kind of show up around the same time and swarm the zeeper threads. Timber Bunny is probably the ringleader who gives them their marching orders. It’s the only leadership (such as it is) position he’s ever held.
He even struck out trying to be a crossing guard and an HOA officer.
He did have a brief stint as a mask nazi during the scamdemic. He was posted at the entrance of his local Target and was assigned to bark at people who were trying to enter the store with their masks positioned below their noses or {gasp!} no mask at all.
’Twas a short-lived but glorious time for the bunny. For one brief shining moment, Cotton-Tail got to tell people what to do. He still pines for those days.
I may not understand your post completely, but I’ll comment anyway.
I’ve read that Trump sells advanced weapons to NATO (length between purchase and delivery unknown). NATO gives up old Patriot systems to Ukraine (that’s why Trump said Ukraine would get weapons quickly - they’re transported from NATO). NATO member nations keep the new weapons.
That is the same scenario which was used to send F16’s and other fighter aircraft to Ukraine. Some of the F-16’s given to Ukraine were quite old and retrofitted.
What’s new here may be the Western technicians usually provided to Ukraine with weapons deliveries. I doubt the US will make that provision this time. So NATO will have to supply the Western operators. That, and NATO will probably have to supply the satellite coordinates, which a troll told me it has, but not as good as US satellites (less satellite time delay).
As to Putin, Trump is quite limited on what he can do to control Putin. With every attempt to restrict, there’s a counter move or moves by Putin.
