A California ex-cop who allegedly partied and took Disney trips while collecting hefty disability checks is being sued for the $600,000 she ripped off from the city.
Nicole Brown, 39, was charged with 15 felonies in May after authorities found she was faking a disability for an extensive leave from the Westminster Police Department, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
Westminster officials ... said they are seeking 'repayment of all disability and medical payments, benefits, and other funds unlawfully obtained by Brown.'
'This former police officer has betrayed the public trust,' Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen said in a statement.
'We owe it to our residents and to the honest, hard-working officers in our police department to seek to recover these funds.'
In March 2022, Brown hurt her forehead while handcuffing a suspect. She called off sick for days and claimed she was diagnosed with severe concussion syndrome from the incident.
Her diagnosis meant she was suffering from headaches, dizziness, light and noise sensitivity, and cognitive issues.
But prosecutors allegedly found the only injury she sustained was a cut - and the emergency room cleared her to return to work the same day.
They said that with the help of her stepfather Peter Gregory Schuman, a workers' compensation attorney, she fraudulently collected benefits and made baseless insurance benefit claims.
Her disability benefits included her full salary, which was tax-free, and all of her medical expenses, according to the DA's office.
Brown's story started unfolding when she was spotted drinking and dancing at the Stagecoach Music Festival in April 2023.
More than 750,000 people attended the rowdy event at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
With music blaring and temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, it was likely one of the last places someone with a concussion would find themselves.

Make her pay back every penny.
White for a change.
Pronto.
The sad reality is that way too many people scam disability (cops included). There is no shame in abusing Welfare, disability, food stamps. Way too many of our fellow Americans grab as many of these benefits as they can get even if they don’t really qualify and then think they should go on forever.
OOOOOOOOOOPSIE
My wife is an ortho PA with her own clinic. What you say is waaay true. And the boldness with which people try to run the scam is astonishing. No shame. No embarrassment at all.
That’s the party that really shocks me. Its so brazen. Zero shame. This woman probably thought nothing of being photographed at this concert.
If only women ran the world....no wars.
Maybe that’s just a really tall wheel chair?😆
That picture just shows a crowd carrying a poor disabled woman on their shoulders so that she can get a better view of the concert.
A friend of mine who retired from the police and FBI, took a part time job as an investigator for fraudulent workman’s comp claims.
He was filming a woman who claimed to have a severe neck injury. She and her boyfriend went for a walk on a country road, and along the road she proceeded to give him a head job. He caught the whole thing on film. Needless to say, her neck movements did not indicate that she had a neck injury. The claim was dropped. True story...
Maybe she is paralyzed from the waist down... Couldn’t stand on her own. (At least he is facing the same direction!)
Reminds me of the NYFD disability retired firefighter who entered the race to the top of the Empire State building and won.
Put Judge Judy in charge of finally cracking down on scams like this.
She used to love shaming the able-bodied and capable-of-working folks “on disability” on her show.
And put her stepfather in jail.
“… with the help of her stepfather Peter Gregory Schuman, a workers’ compensation attorney, she fraudulently collected benefits and made baseless insurance benefit claims.”
“”That picture just shows a crowd carrying a poor disabled woman on their shoulders so that she can get a better view of the concert.””
LOL!
OTOH,we rarely got in city firemen and when we did see one they were almost always legit...very few fakers.
Seems I read something about New York employees becoming disabled just before they retire so they are able to double dip a disability and a retirement salary.
