With the impending expiration of the $7,500 EV tax credit, Tesla and Ford are desperately pushing potential buyers to make their purchases before the September 30 deadline. Donald Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill has ended the EV handout, much to the dismay of Elon Musk, Ford, and others trying to sell EVs to Americans who have not embraced the technology.
Business Insider reports that the race is on for automakers to sell as many EVs as possible before the $7,500 tax credit, a crucial incentive for buyers, comes to an end on September 30. President Donald Trump’s recently passed Big Beautiful Bill is set to eliminate this subsidy, which has played a significant role in making EVs more attractive to consumers.
In response to the looming deadline, Tesla and Ford are taking proactive measures to capitalize on the last-minute surge in demand. Tesla’s website prominently features a banner warning potential buyers about the expiring tax credit and urging them to take delivery by the end of September. Elon Musk’s EV giant is also reportedly sending out emails to would-be customers, emphasizing the importance of completing their purchases before the deadline to qualify for the $7,500 discount.

our local walmart has three charging stations: i’ve never seen a car charging there ... [i guess walmart shoppers can’t afford to spend $60,000 on a vehicle just to virtue-signal ...]
“People know a good thing when they see it.”
they also usually know a bad thing when they see it ...
“I’m not sure I would take an electric car was given to mez”
i would ... but only if it was brand new and i could sell it ASAP :-)

electric vehicles tend to be more expensive
Wrong again. Ford CEO Jim Farley said Chinese EVs are an "existential threat" to the entire global auto industry.
You should ask yourself: What does Ford CEO Jim Farley (whose company also sells EVs) know that you don't? But you will never ask that question of yourself. Why? Because you just want to continue yapping about something you have literally no clue about. Just like the folks in 1900 who insisted, Stick with horses for transportation and avoid those new-fangled automobiles.
So you think EVs are garbage and Ford CEO Farley says Chinese EVs are an "existential threat" to the global auto industry.
Either the Ford CEO is right or you're right.
That alone shows you're wrong about EVs. But let's go a little further. You falsely claim EVs have shorter range than gas vehicles. Many EVs' range now matches or exceeds that of gas cars. As for charging time, you sort of have a point there. However, it usually takes about say 10 minutes to fill a gas tank. But fast-charging EVs can add 100 miles of range in about 10 or 20 minutes. And you can even home-charge your EV overnight. AFAIK, you can't home-fill-up your gas car's gas tank overnight. Technology! LOL.
As for price, EVs average about $55K I think, compared to $45K for gas vehicles (those numbers could be a little higher or lower but they're fairly accurate, I believe). Yet lower recharging costs (vs. gas tank fill-ups) and maintenance can result in the total cost of EV ownership to be less expensive than for gas vehicles.
And going back to the Ford CEO Jim Farley who said that Chinese EVs are an "existential threat" to the whole global auto industry. Those are Farley's words, not mine. (But believe whatever you want. LOL.)
I do think that eventually battery technology will get there, and some of these EVs are stupid fast (actually a good reason to want one!).
One thing I haven't see in this thread yet so far is discussion of grid capacity. Until there is real, substantial improvement here I don't see EVs as something a majority of people will be driving.
JK! LOL!
We love our kids. We would've had them with or without tax credits.
Probably.
The more complicates a system gets, and the more parts required, the higher the maintenance costs.
I know. I was kidding about having two different drivetrains in the same vehicle (i.e., hybrids) would cut maintenance costs in half. But clueless dimwits (some on this thread) actually believe hybrids are better than EVs. I kid you not.
I think it's fine that some people are totally clueless about EVs vs. hybrids vs. gas cars. Totally fine with that. But I think it's absolutely hysterical when some of those totally clueless people blab away thinking they have even the vaguest clue what they're talking about. I even quoted Ford CEO Farley stating that EVs are the real deal. And I asked, Who knows more about EVs? The Ford CEO (whose company actually sells EVs) or the total morons on this thread who say EVs are total garbage and claim they know a lot more about EVs and the auto industry than the Ford CEO?
It's so easy to rebut the complete nonsense from those idiots on this thread who think they know more about the auto industry than the Ford CEO. Totally laughable. And yet they'll continue spouting their total nonsense. Just wait and see ...
“before the deadline to qualify for the $7,500 discount.”
HONESTY would be, “Before the deadline to qualify for the $7,500 opportunity to shift expense to taxpayers!”
Logic?
For starters...
You mean like your Appeal to Novelty Fallacy, especially since you stick to it after being shown that electric cars aren't new.
Also your Straw Man Fallacy, assuming people prefer internal combustion automobiles because they're holding onto history, ignoring that they reject electric vehicles because electric vehicles are a downgrade for them from internal combustion automobiles.
Add in your Bandwagon Fallacy, that because you want something, others who won't jump on the bandwagon are wrong.
You're also Arguing from Inertia ("Stay the Course") - The fallacy that it is necessary to continue on a mistaken course of action regardless of pain and sacrifice involved and even after discovering it is mistaken, because changing course would mean admitting that one's decision was wrong, and all one's effort, expense, and sacrifice was for nothing, and that's unthinkable.
You're pushing the Positive Thinking Fallacy - Refusing to acknowledge the reality of negative aspects of electric vehicles. You putting your head in the sand doesn't make the problems and limitations of electric vehicles go away.
Electric cars are pushed with the "Save the Children" Fallacy as well as Scare Tactics. They're also pushed as a Two-sides Fallacy - making it seem that two sides have equal weight or significance, when a much stronger argument supports just one side.
You buy all the electric vehicles you want but don't try to force it on others as the Leftists are doing.
You can promote any solution you want but we'll reject any so-called "solution" to fictional problems such as Globull Warming.
We'll rightfully reject any proposed solution that's not better than the one we have had in place for more than a century.
I’ll wait until they get over the EV phase & start building something the public wants. Even with the tax credit I wouldn’t have one of thse EVs or most of their products in fact. Too bad; even though I am not nor have ever been a big Ford fan, or ever owned one, but was a particular fan of some of the older Mercury & Lincoln products.
Here is an opposing viewpoint from Ford CEO Jim Farley (whose company also makes EVs). Ford CEO Jim Farley recently said Chinese EVs are an "existential threat" to the entire global auto industry.
So there's a slight disagreement between you and the Ford CEO. The Ford CEO is absolutely certain EVs are the real deal. In contrast, you (who, AFAIK, is not the CEO of any major automaker) actually still believe EVs are mere "throw-away cars."
I think I'll side with the Ford CEO on this one. Basically, you have no idea what you're talking about.
When it comes to the auto industry and EVs, who should you listen to? Ford CEO Jim Farley ... or the freeper catnipman?
LOL.

None of them are going to be there for long so they can handle it.
I’ll bet none of these DemonRat politicians has ever visited a prison where American citizens are incarcerated.
Oops! Posted on the wrong thread.
Why?
The hybrid components including the battery are warranted to 100,000 miles. The technology is proven. When I replaced my model with the same model in a hybrid, doubled my mileage.
Use one of the 500,000 EV charging stations across the country “in communities and along major travel corridors” created by the $7.5 Billion expenditure by the taxpayers under Joe Biden’s guidance.
Update: Initially 8 finished stations were built as plans were re-examined. 💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸
Also, the 8 had problems about reliable electric energy interfacing with them.
Sorry to say but Texas Eagle and catnipman unwittingly have no clue. They're like the two clueless kids who always sit in the back of the classroom and when the teacher reprimands them for not paying attention, they snicker just like Beavis & Butthead.
As I pointed out, the Ford CEO said EVs are the real deal.
Which begs the question: Who knows more about the auto industry and EVs? Ford CEO Jim Farley? ... or the Beavis & Butthead of this thread, Texas Eagle & catnipman?
I expect Texas Eagle & catnipman will have no response other than to continue childishly giggling like schoolgirls ...
I think we are both right.
