My son’s best friend in Iraq was an A-10 or Apache Gun Ship, but mostly the Apache.
Why in the hell would we retire a flying tank, the A-10?
The only thing wrong with the A-10 is it does not have painted on its side United States Army.

I think it was originally intended to be an Army plane but long ago somebody intervened for the AF to have them, and now a lot of A-10's are assigned to Air National Guard fighter squadrons. One of those is the MI ANG 107th "Red Devils" FS and they've been operating the A-10 at SANGb now for 16+ years. Prior to the A-10, the Squadron flew F-16C/D until 2009.

Earlier this year, Trump let on that Selfridge could be back in the business of flying supersonic fighters once again! If there is a transition there to the F-15EX in '28, the 107th A-10's would have to be holdovers for a year or so. The on-base air museum has had an A-10 (110th Fighter Wing, MI ANG, Battle Creek) sitting in it's air park for 15+ years now. If the 107th lands the F-15EX, attendance at the Museum should go through the roof.
