Trump offers new visa program for migrant workers after facing backlash from farmers: report

The Trump administration is launching a new visa program for migrant workers as farmers and hotel owners express concerns that their labor force is being threatened by the president’s mass deportation raids.

The Department of Labor’s newly-created Office of Immigration Policy will help fast track visas for foreign laborers — but the administration has made it clear that the initiative is “not amnesty” for illegal migrant workers, a senior administration official told Axios.

“This is not amnesty. It’s not amnesty lite,” the official told the publication. “No one who is illegally here is being given a pathway to citizenship or residency.”

Migrants who are in the US illegally will not be eligible for the visa program and would-be foreign workers must apply from their home country before coming to the US legally

The Office of Immigration Policy will attempt to cut through regulations the Labor Department argues the Biden administration used as incentives for employers to hire illegal immigrants.

It’s unclear how the Trump administration intends to expedite the visas for migrant workers.

To hire foreign, seasonal agricultural workers via H-2A visas, farmers must show that there’s a lack of qualified local employees to fill the roles, according to the Department of Labor.

President Trump last month halted ICE raids at farms, hotels and restaurants after industry leaders raised some issues stemming from the administration’s immigration crackdown.

There is a way to do it.

As far as migrants go. Scrap the h2 visa and go to a work permit system. They get the permit at the border. The customs agents handle them. For a fee, they get their backgrounds checked, as much as that is possible, and determine their country of origin. Only Mexicans be allowed. If they are not vaccinated, they pay a fee for that. (How many does tge military vaccinate each day?) Just an example.
Once this happens, the employer who sponsors them gets custody and has to pick them up.
One year term for the permit. They need to go BACK into country of origin to be able to apply again.
If the employer gets caught with anyone who does not have the permit, then that employer is fined several thousand dollars for each illegal which pays for the deportation AND, a percent of that fine goes to the arresting dept. So local law enforcement need to be allowed to enforce that law.

As for US workers on medicaid. CCC camp days be reinstituted.
For high schoolers age 16 to graduation, they can work and pay no income taxes other than FICA. That program continues if they go to further education untill they graduate from that school.

So how about we also levy a tax on any dollars being sent out of the country by those on a VISA?

Thanks, nice to have a guy to talk with. The only difference I’d make is to make the permit renewable annually, up to 3 years. There’s no reason to make him go back and apply all over again unless something comes up. After 3 years, he needs to get back with his people, or he’ll be too tempted to overstay. One rule that I didn’t see is that HE MUST NOT be permitted to bring a wife or kids or parents or anyone else...just him. Give him something to go home to and he’ll be far less of a problem.

Amnesty under a different name. They say well they won’t be given citizenship but that’s total bs because as soon as the Dems get back in power everyone of them will be given citizenship.

I watched a video with Charlie Kirk the other day and he said Trump is under enormous pressure from the big time Republican donors to let these people stay. Why is Trump listening to them instead of the people who voted him in office?

I know your feelings.
I can understand your suggestions and i agree with them. I just presented a outline you see.

Here is my experience with INS. Back in the mid 90s i wanted to hire Scottish timber fallers. Went through all the hoops and all and started the next step which was to contact the INS with my information. Turned it over to my CPA PC and he tried to contact them. Was on hold with the INS for about four hours. Nice music. We gave up. So there is that.

In 1974 or 5 there was a retired farmer from Salinas CA who lived near Howards Grove WI. He owned a tomato farm in CA and had Mexican workers. What happened, even back then, was they were afraid to go back to Mexico because of gangs extorting street tax out of them. In plain words they forced them to pay a percent to leave their family alone. If they did not pay, their family either disappeared or their heads were displayed on posts back in Mexico. So..they brought the family with them. Then one of them had a baby in the USA. Get it? Its the same today only on steroids.

NONE OF OUR IDEAS WILL WORK UNLESS, we go into Mexico and utterly destroy the cartels..and establish at least a buffer zone 40 miles into Mexico made secure by both Mexican and USA forces.
We dont destroy to root cause, we will be pissing against the wind. The cartels are the root cause.
Wont be the first time we had to go into Mexico to clean out the corruption.

When I was a kid. I picked blueberries for money in WA state.
Along side men and women with work visas.
They kicked my ass production wise, but
the farmer got his crop in and everybody was happy.
I got enough money to spend a good summer.
They got enough money to live fairly well till next season.
What changed?
Democrat politics. destroyed it all.

My FIL used H2As in the 50s and 60s to pick his oranges and avocados. H2As are nothing new, not easy to get, usually he sold his entire crop to a buyer. The buyer provided the H2A workers to harvest. All Karl had to do was fill out a head count form of how many H2A workers were used on which days. H2A workers usually had 6-8 months of seasonal work along the CA coast, then returned home until following year’s harvest.

Ending birthright citizenship should be the number one focus...unless you stop that magnet, people will keep coming over and plopping out American citizens. And then play the waiting game until a Democrat is back in office and gives amnesty. We need a SCOTUS ruling on that issue to learn if we have a country worth keeping.

Not successful for the 75% of American AG workers whose wages are being suppressed.
