At least 13 people have been killed and hundreds more are feared missing after historic floods inundated a Texas county.
Twenty three people are missing from Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, after the Guadalupe River flooded and surged by up to 30 feet above its usual water leve Friday.
The names of those killed have not been shared, but the final death toll is expected to rise substantially as floodwaters recede.
And the identities of the missing have begun to emerge as stricken families share photos of their loved ones in the hopes of learning information about their whereabouts.
Officials have stressed they hope to rescue many of the missing and say they're still hopeful of finding most of those missing safe and well.
But the sheer scale of destruction - with buildings ripped from their foundations and cars swept away like toys - suggests that may be an overly optimistic prediction.

They’re so young. That’s crushingly sad.
That would explain why they build camp cabins next to the river.
I just cannot believe there is nobody at the camp on guard duty, or fire watch or whatever. Just one person awake, to notice the river rising, a fire, anything odd.
And it’s also amazing that on a river susceptible to flash flooding, no warning sirens, no sensors, nothing.
A lot of towns have started disposing of the old tornado warning sirens in favor of more systems that send something to your cell phone.
But the way governments spend money these days, and big tech monitors everything imaginable... but nobody monitored the river with all that damned AI and tech. No money in that...
The river rose 17 inches in a matter of minutes...less than an hour.
There were hardly ANY storm warnings....which, isn’t surprising, to me as many of our recent storms seem to develop over Central TX out of nowhere.
These camps have been here, along the Guadalupe, for decades. They’ve NEVER had to have someone keep watch, on the river, through the night.
That river was wildly at risk. In this hyper surveilled society we live it, it’s complete malfeasance that upstream from all those camps there isn’t one sensor that can send in a flash flood alert.
And a foot of rain, someone knew very good and well a few hours in advance. And as for someone awake at night, that’s just basic in this day and age. Adults or counselors each take a two hour shift and someone stays awake.
Every military unit, everywhere has at least one man awake always.
It should be a way of life at an organized camp for little girls... down beside a river, with large storms out there.
This tragedy is a -hideous- failure of that county and it’s emergency preparation.
The Guadalupe river is a beast. No matter the dams, retaining walls, or whatever, it will flood.
Enough of the phony outrage. Its aimed at libtard journalists.
Yeah, and knowing that, there should have been a flood sensor 5 miles upstream. It would be cheap and easy. And when tripped, the sheriffs office is notified instantly.
A warning goes out immediately to the camps in the form of some kind of audible alarm, or a cop with a siren, etc.
The water cannot be stopped, but this was unsat.
Yes, because immigrants and refugees from blue states build Christian campsites next to rivers, cause the rain to fall, and the rivers to overflow their banks. Damned if I know how they do that. Nobody ever drowned in a flood before this.
Unfortunately the flood data from FEMA or what ever government organization wasn't even close in the 2010 Nashville Flood. That flood broke that record/charts like crazy. That Flood become known as the Nashville flood but it was all over middle Tennessee. I don't know how much flooding Kentucky got but it was all north of Nashville and South of Nashville all the way to Alabama and Georgia, I don't know how far south of the the Tennessee line it went, but I think Chattanooga might of got a little bit of it, but down the I-65 corridor it flooded bad to I think Alabama.
That is a true miracle!
Thank God for that!!!
There’s always tons of blame and condemnation to go around after the fact based on coulda and shoulda.
But it happened and now is not the time to heap judgment and condemnation on those devastated by this tragedy.
Not phony outrage.
Your comments are inappropriate, disgusting and completely unchristlike in character.
And you name the name of Christ????
Disgusting.
And I noticed that you completely ignored Fury’s comments too.
Only picked on the woman in your usual women hatred.
Why didn’t you take him to task as well?
So sorry for these families.
Some of the missing:
They look like my granddaughters...
Lol thank you
I'm not sure that part is true. This afternoon Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was shown on TV at a press conference an was described as "Acting Governor".
He can still deploy state resources while out of town.
We watched Gov Abbott’s presser, just a while earlier ... he, LT Gov Patrick and local Sheriff, Mayor, etc were ALL there, together.
Gov Abbott deployed the state resources. Patrick likely oversaw the coordination between county/state entities.
The state resources were deployed. What difference does it make if Gov or Lt Gov??
Why nit pick on this report?
Some of the youngest campers are missing. Apparently their cabin was swept away. Many of the youngest campers counselors helped saved lives but a couple of them are missing too. It’s been devastating.
Omigosh, that’s heartbreaking. I know it’s been some years, but that pain never goes away.
Sending up a prayer for your nephew’s family, including you. 🙏
