President Donald Trump's Big Beautiful Bill is one step closer to becoming law — and reshaping policy from Medicaid to taxes.
The House passed the massive spending bill on Thursday afternoon in a 218-214 vote.
Every Democrat voted against the bill, along with two Republicans: Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania.
The final passage came after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries spoke for roughly eight hours and 45 minutes in opposition to the bill, breaking the record for the longest House floor speech in American history.
The bill now heads to Trump's desk for signing, which could happen as soon as Friday, July 4.
The bill underwent a number of changes since the House passed an initial version in May. That included the eventual removal of a provision aimed at preventing states from regulating AI for 10 years.
The bill passed the upper chamber on Tuesday, with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote after three GOP senators opposed it.

One final time to post this as a reminder:
Elon Musk
“Polls show that this bill is political suicide for the Republican Party”

I don’t know what is in the Bill, but since every Democrat voted against it, it has to be great.
Have to pass it to find out what is in it.
I would have the Republican Party commit political suicide if it meant a win for President Trump.
Whacka-doodle spectrum boy can go launch himself to Mars on one of his exploding grain silos.
Trump doesn’t own this bill.
The legislative branch does.
Trump is ALL alone in the DC swamp.
Neither the legislative nor the judicial do anything to promote America First.
Whatever good they send his way is done begrudgingly and is done because they don’t have a better alternative.
I can’t say it is a win for Trump other than fact they he worked is tail off to get something passed so Congress could on recess and stay out of his way for a couple of months.
Although it should’ve been.
Even with its faults, this is a far better piece of legislation.
It took FOUR Insiders to write this.
Yeah tax cuts for working people and ending subsides for billionaire EV car manufacturers are “ political suicide”
AMEN!
Thanks for posting this. I was going to put up a similar article from the New York Times, but decided not to once I saw your post. For once the Republicans were smart and they followed the rule of Mikhail Kalashnikov in inventing the AK47, “ Do not let the perfect defeat the good.”
RE: Trump doesn’t own this bill. The legislative branch does.
Nope, he owns it as much as Congress.
He has been OPENLY campaigning for it and working hard to have it passed.
And he’s NOT going to veto it.
So, yes, he owns it as much as he owns Mar-a-Lago.
Let’s say you were in Congress and we’re to vote yea or nay to the BBB, how would you vote, and why?
RE: Have to pass it to find out what is in it.
The overview and essential points of the bill have been in the news since early May, you can’t say you don’t know what’s in it.
This bill has a lot of pork, and adds another $10 trillion to the deficit. But at least it funds the removal of 10 million illegal alien democrat voters. Hopefully, enough of those parasites will be removed before the 2026 midterm elections.
I am, but I’m not, if you know what I mean.
I have read a lot of BBB summaries but not details.
