A Congressional intern was killed in Washington, D.C. after being struck by bullets when gunmen opened fire on a group of people.
Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, an intern for Representative Ron Estes, was fatally shot late Monday night in what authorities believe was a targeted attack near the U.S. Capitol.
Tarpinian-Jachym was not the intended target but an innocent bystander in the tragic shooting.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 10:30 p.m. near 1200 7th Street. Upon arrival, they found Tarpinian-Jachym unconscious, along with two other victims who were conscious.
According to the department, multiple suspects exited a vehicle and opened fire on a group of people, striking three individuals.
All three victims - Tarpinian-Jachym, a woman, and a 16-year-old male - suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital.
Tarpinian-Jachym succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Tuesday, ABC News reported.
According to a LinkedIn profile believed to belong to him, Tarpinian-Jachym had been interning for Representative Estes for about two months. Before that, he reportedly worked for a government relations firm, also in Washington, D.C

This young man was interning for a Republican Congressman. Washingtoon DC is still unsafe. Is not fit for man or beast.
DC= District of Criminals.
The District of Corruption is a dump. We should move the nation’s capitol somewhere safe.
Yes. I agree.
DC = District of Corruption, District of Criminals
A good thought.
Hopefully, the DC Police and FBI will solve this tragic murder faster than the Seth Rich case, in which a DNC official was shot to death on a DC street, nothing was taken, and there has not been a single suspect.
Yikes! The only reason I go into DC proper is to go to Capitals games at Capital One arena and I do not stray far from the arena.
This story leaves a lot of information hanging out there.
Like, who were the other people?
Where was this, and what was he doing there?
Who was the targeted person?
Was this gang related?
Descriptions of the shooters?
This kid was an intern. The likelihood that he had access or exposure to ANY critical information is slim at best.
Condolences to family and friends of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym.
I’ve been maybe 3 times and the last one was I guess…25 years ago. So I do not know how it is now.
But it was BAD, last time I went.
So bad there was an underpass with a huge collection of homeless bums hanging (I’d say a dozen easily) out in its shade. It was a walking tunnel so you could go under this big city street, packed with cars.
I took one look at the druggies, thugs and misfits and made my family dodge cars and we jaywalked. Halfway across a police officer pulled up, looked at us…looked at the underpass walk, looked back at us. He then looked away and drove on.
I believe that if you move the capitol, all the corruption and crime will follow shortly. Congress, staffers, government employees. They predominantly vote democrat, and where democrats are elected there are crime ridded hellholes.
Washington DC has never been safe. We used to live in Arlington, which is adjacent to DC, in the 70’s. Arlington at that time was a very nice place to live. DC was not.
There is a difference though. Back in that era crime was the non-political variety. Today it’s the political kind.
The arena is half a mile due south of the place where the shooting occurred.
There were no known witnesses to Seth Rich’s assassination.
This one was somewhat different:
“All three victims - Tarpinian-Jachym, a woman, and a 16-year-old male - suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital. “
2 other people were shot.
Now, I did not look up the address where they were shot. There might be a first indicator with that.
If that is known, there are lots of cameras all over DC. It may be analyzed and determine who did it.
Another MS13 DNC contract killing?
So? Congress and DC loves lawlessness. Suffer, suckers.
2 teens arrested for March shooting that injured boy in Northwest DC, officials say (April 23rd 2025)
“In April, officials announced the two arrests. Both teenagers were charged with Assault with Intent to Kill. Foster was charged as an adult under Title 16, officials said.”
First search first hit.
They were both at same address.
1200 block of 7th Street
Aspiring DC interns take note...
The capital should be reduced to the federal district. All inhabited areas should be retroceded to Maryland where they will realize full federal representation immediately.
If this isn’t done, the next time of democrat control WILL see DC be elevated as the 51st state in order to create two new democrat senators.
