The Justice Department is ramping up its plans to revoke the citizenship of immigrants who’ve committed crimes or pose a national security risk, according to a recent memo underscoring the Trump administration’s hardline immigration agenda.
Efforts to identity and go after those suspected of cheating to get their citizenship are not new to this administration.
But the public push is raising concerns from advocates, who have accused the administration of trying to use immigration enforcement for political purposes. It’s receiving increased scrutiny after a Republican member of Congress suggested that Zohran Mamdani, the New York City Democratic mayoral candidate, should be subject to denaturalization proceedings.

They are enemies of the USA which makes them Enemies of the State which makes them all a Clear and Present Danger.
Holy cow. When will we wake up and call a spade a spade?
Why is it people feel that as long as someone is running for office that person can not be prosecuted?
“a Republican member of Congress suggested that Zohran Mamdani, the New York City Democratic mayoral candidate, should be subject to denaturalization proceedings.”
Give that congressman or congresswoman a cigar.
This denaturalization push is the best idea in a month of Sundays. The revocation of citizenship for cause should be swift & inexorable. The lax attitude towards crimes and antiAmerican speech/actions by naturalized/green card holders has allowed such actors free reign and damaged American safety & security.
... hardline immigration agenda. ..
Because punishing and deporting ungrateful CRIMINALS is SO “hardline”...right, AssPress?
Addendum: Burn or deface an American flag, automatic revocation of green card, naturalization.
If we focus and I mean really focus on the main mission in front of us (illegals period/don’t care about side categories) and not go on side quests and missions (what this article points to) we will be successful. Enough with the shiny objects get busy!
I think it is a pretty safe bet that Obama and Biden weaponized every federal department to achieve their political goals.
Given this premise, it should not be a surprise the qualifications for granting United States citizenship would be abused.
Because that is the example that has been set by the Uniparty that allowed Hillary Clinton to get away with everything she's done.
Ilhan Omar comes to mind.
“Why is it people feel that as long as someone is running for office that person can not be prosecuted?”
Because autocrats arrest their opposition. Putin arrested Navalny. Erdogan arrested Ekrem Imamoglu.
We were obviously heading that way as the Biden WH coordinated the massive lawfare attack against Trump. Had they targeted anyone but Trump it might have worked, and the multilevel justice system would have been even more entrenched.
I believe they haven’t targeted the Clinton Crime Family for the same reason. Also, even though Trump appointed his people to run the various departments, those departments are so corrupted that it would be difficult, perhaps impossible, to bring them to bear against the Clintons. Democrats are a cancer in government.
Excellent!
Start with Omar, Tlaib, Padilla and that Mamadama idiot in NYC!
You can not denaturalize for speech or actions taken after naturalization. Naturalized citizens are equal to natural born in all ways (other than eligibility for the Presidency). What you can do is denaturalize for fraud in the naturalization process.
And The Stupids come here now. IMO naturalization should be reset to 5 generations. No voting until their great, great grandchildren. Fully integrated and self-sustaining then voting. Otherwise they’re just here to plunder America as an expression of their foreign allegiance.
You are correct, lying on applications or fraud is the easiest route to lose citizenship. Green card is easier. I allowed my anger at individuals like Ilan Omar to guide my words rather than strict law.
I believe that some of the provisions below could justify removal for persons who are members of terrorist groups or publicly preach communism.
Potentially Expatriating Acts
349(a)(1) - obtaining naturalization in a foreign state on one’s own application after the age of 18;
349(a)(2) - taking an oath or making an affirmation or other formal declaration of allegiance to a foreign state or its political subdivisions after the age of 18;
349(a)(3) - entering or serving in the armed forces of a foreign state engaged in hostilities against the United States or serving as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer in the armed forces of a foreign state;
349(a)(4) - accepting employment with a foreign government after the age of 18 if (a) one has the nationality of that foreign state or (b) an oath or declaration of allegiance is required in accepting the position;
349(a)(5) - formally renouncing U.S. nationality before a U.S. diplomatic or consular officer in a foreign state;
349(a)(6) - formally renouncing U.S. nationality while in the United States NOTE: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is responsible for implementing this section of the law; any inquiries about taking an oath of renunciation of U.S. nationality while in the United States should be directed to DHS;
349(a)(7) – if convicted of performing an act of treason against the Government of the United States or for attempting by force to overthrow, or bear arms against, the Government of the United States.
A green card, granting lawful permanent residency in the U.S., can be lost due to various reasons. These include criminal activity, immigration fraud, abandonment of residency, and failure to comply with immigration laws. Specific examples include certain criminal convictions, particularly those involving moral turpitude or drug offenses, domestic violence and firearm offenses DUI and extended periods of time >180 days spent outside the United States.
Violating the terms of a green card, such as working without authorization or failing to comply with other immigration laws, can lead to deportation and loss of status.
Not notifying USCIS of a change of address can also have negative consequences. Activities that pose a threat to national security, such as affiliation with terrorist groups, can lead to revocation, according to VOA - Voice of America English News.
I agree with that. The US has deported long time naturalized citizens that turned out to be NAZI guards, etc. So there is precedence in that regard...
George Soros.
With one glaring exception: DJT
For example, "349(a)(1) - obtaining naturalization in a foreign state on one’s own application after the age of 18".
You only can lose US citizenship by naturalizing in another state IF AND ONLY IF you intended to give up your US citizenship by the act. The government has to PROVE this was your intent, if you leave a record that you did not intend to lose US citizenship, or if your actions imply that you did not intend to do so, your citizenship cannot be taken. In practice, US citizens are free to naturalize in other countries freely.
In fact, my understanding is that this sometimes even comes into play the other direction. The US citizen will try to claim they were denaturalized, and the government will show that their actions at the time indicated intent to keep their citizenship.
