Subject: Out-of-town pool report 4: Gaggle / rolling

POTUS gaggled for roughly 8 minutes on the tarmac. Newsiest bits are that he confirmed he’s meeting with Ursula von der Leyen while in Scotland — saying there are still several sticking points to work out with the EU trade deal. He also again said he has not been briefed on his name appearing in the Epstein files.

POTUS confirmed the meeting with the EU will take place on Sunday and said von der Leyen will be there. He said she is a “highly respected woman.” On lingering sticking points with EU, the president repeated that there’s a “good 50-50 chance” for a deal,” and said the “sticking points have to do with maybe 20 different things.”

On France recognizing the state of Palestine, the president said. “That’s fine if he does that. That’s up to him. That’s not up to me. I’m with the United States. I’m not with France.”

On the Humanitarian situation in Gaza, he said “it’s terrible what happened with Hamas … we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what response Israel has to that.”

On the UK Prime Minister, he said he likes him and that he “got a trade deal done.” “It’s a good deal for the UK. I’ll be seeing him tomorrow evening, and our wonderful ambassadors you know, he’s doing a good job.”

On Infrastructure at Turnberry and the Open, POTUS said the infrastructure is good: “All I can tell you is it would be the best place anywhere in your country, there’s no place like it. There’s no place like Turnberry. Probably the best course in the world. And I would say Aberdeen is up there as well.” He added that his son, Eric, will cut the ribbon at the course at Aberdeen. “The second course is great.”

On his names appearing in the Epstein files: “No I was never briefed”

On golf Open hosted in Turnberry, “It’s probably the best course in the world.” He said his son would cut the ribbon for the second course at Aberdeen.

On Blanche interviewing Ghislaine Maxwell
“I don’t know anything about the conversation”
“Obviously, this is no time to be talking about pardons.”

Did he ask House Republicans not to vote on the resolution? “I was never involved in that.”

Has two messages for Europe
“Stop the windmills.”
“On immigration, you better get your act together.”

Also adding greeters below from WH:

The Honorable Warren Stephens, U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James

T.R.H. Ian Murray, M.P., Secretary of State for Scotland
