SACRAMENTO, CA — A piece of the Golden State's heritage was lost today, as the iconic grizzly bear that had adorned the California state flag announced that he had officially moved to Texas.
Monarch, the revered bear that has represented the state on its flag since it was officially adopted in 1911, revealed that he was leaving California for the Lone Star State after giving up hope that things at home would ever improve.
"I want to live in a state where my bear family has a better future," he said. "California has perfect weather and amazing food options, but things have just fallen off a cliff around here over the last couple of decades. The taxes, the real estate prices, the progressive policies… I just don't recognize it as the same state anymore. My family and I have purchased a nice house in Texas for a fraction of what it would cost us in California. It'll be nice to feel like we live in America again."
When asked about the departure of the state flag's famous bear, Governor Gavin Newsom blamed President Donald Trump. "This is just another result of Trump's divisive brand of leadership," Newsom said. "It's a sad day when even our wonderful Monarch the Grizzly Bear gets radicalized by Donald Trump's extreme, fascist ideas. If Monarch wants out, I say good riddance. We welcome the search for newer, more diverse representation on our flag."
At publishing time, Newsom had announced that he would be replacing Monarch on the California state flag with a Chinese panda.

U.S. — The news media which remained unconcerned for four years by the lack of circulation to former President Biden's brain have expressed deep concern over the circulation in President Trump's ankles.
Journalists, who were unable to identify any symptoms of cognitive decline in a man who could not speak and shook hands with ghosts, have sounded the alarm over the mild swelling in Trump's ankles.
"This is no deep fake, America. This is real," said ABC journalist Mario Arrato. "The administration says Trump is okay, but as journalists, we do not simply take their word that the President is healthy. No, we believe the evidence of our own eyes. And that evidence shows mildly swollen ankles, which should trigger Trump's immediate removal via the 25th amendment."
In what is now being referred to in the national media as "AnkleGate", President Trump was diagnosed with a mild case of chronic venous insufficiency, which causes people to need things like supportive shoes. "How can they tell us Trump is fit to serve when he may have to purchase slightly wider shoes?" questioned Senator Chuck Schumer. "Never in my lifetime have I seen a President deteriorate before our eyes like this."
At publishing time, journalists had demanded that the administration stop gaslighting them by claiming that Trump was still competent to do his job despite his mildly enlarged ankles.

NEW YORK CITY — In a stunning example of rampant fascism, a TV network cancelled a show that wasn't making any money and had terrible ratings.
"The Colbert Show spoke truth to power and its cancelation is a chilling example of the fascism that's growing every day here in the U.S.A.," online culture blogger Danielle Swanson wrote this week. "With Colbert off the air, there will not be one single late-night host left who will criticize Trump. Fascism has won."
CBS announced this week it was cancelling The Late Show starring Steven Colbert, stating it was purely a business decision due to no one watching the show and its losing $40 million every year. However, journalists and Democratic politicians argued that the show's 100-million-dollar budget had nothing to do with the cancellation and place the blame squarely at the feet of the Trump administration.
"My losing the company tens of millions of dollars every year is textbook fascism," said Colbert. "That dastardly Trump has done it again!"
At publishing time, CBS had informed Colbert he could still cry and screech for 90 minutes every night, he just would no longer be on camera or get paid.
