When it’s our birthdays, we’re the ones who get gifts. But when it’s a company’s birthday, sometimes they are the ones giving gifts away.
That’s the case with convenience store chain 7-Eleven, which is celebrating its 98th birthday today. The chain, along with its Speedway and Stripes stores, is giving away free Slurpees on what it calls “Slurpee Day.” Here’s what you need to know.
What is Slurpee Day?
Slurpee Day is the name that 7-Eleven gives to its annual birthday celebration, which it holds on July 11 every year. (The seventh month and eleventh day—get it?)
While we think of convenience stores as modern-day conveniences, 7-Eleven has actually been around for nearly a century now. The chain was founded in 1927 as the Southland Ice Company, before becoming known as Tote’m Stores through 1946, after which the chain was bestowed with the name we know it by today.
The Slurpee is, of course, 7-Eleven’s most iconic offering. It was invented in 1966, making it 59 years old this year. The slushy-type drink is currently sold at 7-Eleven stores as well as at Speedway and Stripes convenience stores, which are also owned by 7-Eleven’s parent company, Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd.
In celebration of Slurpee Day, 7-Eleven gives away free Slurpees to customers.
How to get your free Slurpee on Slurpee Day
All you have to do to get your free Slurpee on Slurpee Day is go to a participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, or Stripes store today, July 11, 2025.
There, you’ll be able to grab a free small Slurpee—no other purchase necessary.

D.C. Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser has again tightened the cityy's youth curfew after a chaotic Fourth of July weekend.
The curfew is now set to begin at 11 p.m. citywide for all children under the age of 17, as opposed to the previous 12:01 a.m. curfew, and will extend through the rest of the summer.
In some areas with higher incident rates, the curfew may begin as early as 8 p.m., according to FOX 5 DC.
Teens reportedly continue to cause mayhem at Navy Yard – one of the city's popular tourist, dining and night-life areas.
The tighter restrictions also follow a group of teens launching fireworks into traffic over the holiday weekend. Officials seized over 400 fireworks and arrested 28 individuals – 20 of them under 18 – in connection with the incident.
The mayor's tightening the curfew Tuesday, the same day President Donald Trump said his administration is considering a federal takeover of the nation's capital – citing concerns about crime, homelessness and slow economic development.
Outside of the Government Buildings, Washington DC is a hellhole.
At least it was in the 90s when I went there every year for Rolling Thunder.
Had to gas up on New York Av, across the street from some burned out buildings.
The gas station attendant said that those buildings have looked like that since the Martin Luther King Riots in the 60s.
Anecdotal, I know, but that’s what the guy said.
When I took a bus load of teens to Washington D.C in the 70s, prostitutes were at every corner. The tour bus driver warned me not to let anyone out my sight. It was too dangerous.

The CEO of a weather modification technology company has confirmed that cloud seeding operations took place in Texas just two days before the deadly central Texas flood occurred.
NBC News reported that Augustus Doricko, the CEO of Rainmaker, a weather modification company, said that planes had released silver iodide in the atmosphere in Texas two days prior to the fatal floods that have claimed over 100 lives.
Doricko claims the cloud seeding operations did not cause the flooding in Texas.

Federal immigration officers conducting raids Thursday at two California marijuana farms in Ventura County were attacked by protesters and had to fend off a Democratic Congressman who tried to crash a police line. National Guard troops and vehicles were also at the raids.
Video taken by KABC-TV shows a protester firing a handgun at ICE agents as he runs away. There were no reports of anyone being hit by gunfire. This is the third time in the past week ICE agents have been fired upon by pro-illegal immigration activists:

Glass House Farms locations in Carpinteria and Camarillo were apparently simultaneously raided by ICE. About ten workers were reportedly detained and taken into custody by agents. Protesters were called to the scene by pro-illegal immigration groups urged them to “protect workers,” according to a report by the Santa Barbara Independent (excerpt):
Dozens of military-style vehicles, reportedly with ICE and the U.S. National Guard, conducted raids at two Central Coast cannabis farms Thursday morning, causing a chaotic scene at both the locations as videos spread on social media while the raids were occurring.
The 805 Immigrant Coalition and 805 UndocuFund confirmed that the raids were happening just after 10 a.m. on Thursday, sending out urgent community alerts about the large-scale raids at Glass House Farms locations in Carpinteria and Camarillo.
“Both locations have multiple ICE vehicles and agents on the ground,” the alert said, calling on citizens to “show up to the scene to protect workers.”
…At Camarillo’s protest, federal agents reportedly fired rubber bullets and flash bangs into the crowd in addition to deploying smoke canisters.
Video posted by Townhall shows protesters attacking armored vehicles at one of the raids. One woman is seen repeatedly trying to damage the vehicles by jamming a long flag pole flying a Mexican flag in the wheel wells, windows and other parts of the vehicles:
