If you need to unplug your computer to keep it safe from getting fried, you do that.
Some years back we had lightning strike a pine tree right off the back porch, the bolt traveled under the house and fried quite a few electronics, including 2 computers.
The surge protectors did us no good.
We learned our lesson and unplug during a bad electric storm.

I’ve gotten so that I disconnect all of my devices as well as taking my laptop off its charger, which is the only one I try to keep going at least as long as I have my internet.
The worst experience I’ve suffered was on an early Thursday morning back in 2001 when my entire Directv (dish and receiver) system was fried.
Thankfully, after four rough hours, I’m just hearing some distant thunder.

We unplug almost everything when a storm comes. One of our hard drives fried several years ago, so we learned that lesson

Yes, when it happens to you, you do tend to pay attention.

That is amazing, about Tippy not being bothered by fireworks.
All of our dogs have been scared witless over them.
I usually give them CBD oil and put Classic music on for them that (sort of) drowns out the pops and booms.
It must be her Inner Dingo.
I imagine the Outback can get pretty “noisy” with thundering herds and all.
