Concord N.H. — Scott Brown is in. The Rye Republican is launching another campaign to return to the U.S. Senate, WMUR Political Director Adam Sexton was first to report on Wednesday.
"The reason I am running is a kind of fed up with the federal delegation. We've been blessed here in New Hampshire. We've had Gov. Sununu, Gov. Ayotte, the Legislature, the Executive Council all working very hard for years to protect the New Hampshire advantage -- while we see in the federal delegation the over-taxation, overregulations," Brown said. "On the policy stuff, the open borders, the sanctuary cities, zealously fighting to protect the so-called rights of illegals."
Brown is the No. 1 pick for many Republicans who want to flip this Senate seat that is coming open with the retirement of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
President Donald Trump, though, publicly tried to recruit former Gov. Chris Sununu into the race.
"Listen, Chris and I have been friends for years. I like Chris, obviously. I think he would make a great senator, but he's making decisions that are important for him and his family."
Asked if he has assurances he's going to lead the Republican ticket and land Trump's endorsement, Brown said, "There's no assurances in anything in life at all. I live every day as if it's my last -- and certainly I would love the president's endorsement."

Yes, then was defeated by Elizabeth Warren.
He later moved to New Hampshire and ran for the Senate in 2014, very narrowly losing to Shaheen. Probably had a ceiling of support due to the “carpetbagger” label, even though NH was his original home state, and that was just enough to keep Shaheen in there...that was a very strong GOP year. Since he has now been living there again, now for well over a decade, we’ll see if they try the “carpetbagger” label again if it can stick. But NH is also even now less Republican than it was back then...though there was a glimmer of hope with how close the presidential race was and they continue to elect Republican governors. Sununu probably would have been able to win the Senate seat given his popularity and the fact it is still fairly purple overall...but he chose not to run.
Ayotte lost to then-governor Maggie Hassan, not Shaheen. Shaheen defeated John Sununu.
You are correct... compromised and compliant Maggie.. living proof of why the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed
