Cuomo should thank Mamdani for making him look like the safe, stable choice for NYC mayor

In his race for mayor, Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani has done the impossible: He’s made Andrew Cuomo look like a safe, stable choice.

Mamdani pulled off the remarkable feat by breaking a cardinal rule of politics: Don’t scare ­people.

But he has done exactly that by taking such radical positions in the Democrats’ mayoral primary that the portion of the electorate that hasn’t fallen for his vision of a socialist utopia realizes his policies would wreck New York.

His mantra of free this and free that, combined with a rent freeze on 1 million privately owned rent-regulated apartments, while promising that higher taxes on the rich would pay for everything, is music only to the ears of those who are ignorant about history and the laws of economics and human nature.

He’s also anti-cop to the core, which is the absolute last thing New York needs in City Hall.

He would be a disaster ten times worse than DeBlasio. If that can even be imagined.

Anyone who really believes that "globalize the intifada" is a legitimate call for Palestinian equality and equal rights is either a liar or a moron.

Zohran Mamdani is both, and he should never be elected as the mayor of NY City or anywhere else.

Mamdani has repeatedly said he would “Defund the Police” — and, back during the heyday of the George Floyd riots, he even pushed back when Cuomo said that Defund the Police didn’t really mean defunding the police, with Mamdani insisting that the slogan meant exactly what it said.

Exploiting the Museum and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising to sanitize “globalize the intifada” is outrageous and especially offensive to survivors. Since 1987 Jews have been attacked and murdered under its banner. All leaders must condemn its use and the abuse of history.

Mamdani, whose father is a radical professor at Columbia and whose mother is a has been movie director, gets his middle name from Kwame Nkrumah, a progressive anti-colonial African politician.

He wants to freeze all rents, have the government run grocery stores, and make both child care and transit bus free for all.

The newest Democrat strategy is very similar to a strategy used to purchase an asset. A purchase price is offered. Another makes a much lower offer to make the original offer look good. Another lower price is offered, if needed, to finally encourage the seller to take the original offer.

The democrats are that desperate.

Cuomo went nuts after Trump was elected in 2017. He was actually rational by NY standards prior to that. He did an especially good job during Hurricane Sandy. But he wanted to run for President in 2020, so went anti-Trump and then over the top during COVID. Mamdani would be the worst imagineable outcome in that race. If Mamdani wins, he will probably get elected. But in a world of oddities, Eric Adams may well get new life in his Independent bid if Mamdani wins.
