Israel has launched what it called “preemptive strikes” against Iran and a state of emergency has been declared in Israel, according to the country’s Defense Minister Israel Katz. “Following the State of Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future” Katz said in a statement. Iranian state media outlet IRNA reported repeated explosions could be heard in Tehran.

Israel has the capability to entirely destroy the political/ideological infrastructure of the current Iranian state. They have the capability to force regime change. They have the capability to destroy the entire Iranian power grid, as well as their port facilities, and then to occupy the areas around the nuclear sites - allowing them to permanently take them out.
I’m sure other countries are working on a cheaper way to defend against drone/missile attacks. The patriot system is extremely expensive and the missiles are expensive to replace and with the production of hypersonic missiles are becoming increasing obsolete. Second countries are discovering the American Weapons are under the control of the Americans, even after the sale and thus the Defense Contractors may not be getting that war time bounce they were hoping for.

I would have guessed more pizza with more personnel and visitors from out of town to celebrate the big military parade in downtown DC in honor of President Trump’s 79th birthday and a 250th anniversary for our military. I wonder if the millions spent to make this happen are one of Musk’s complaints with Trump? But a big Israeli attack on Iran certainly makes a lot of sense too.
It should certainly be helpful to Ukraine to have Iran focusing on defending from Israel.
As you have found, most of Israel’s missiles are designed in collaboration with Raytheon. Still, Israel’s defense industries are first rate. Raytheon probably gets as much as it gives in their relationship.

It certainly makes sense to declare a national alert with an attack on Iran. Other Islamic entities will also be likely to take advantage of the situation for their own purposes or for support of Iran. Since there is a definite split between Shia and Sunna Islam, many motives or expectations can be expected from others.
I wonder how much weaponry Iran would have sent to Russia for their Ukraine war will now be used for a reaction to Israel? If Israel’s Iron Dome can destroy these weapons before they strike, then Israel’s attack on Iran will prove to be a big plus toward eventual resolution for a free Ukraine.
