Not gonna happen unless they relish shooting themselves in both feet

These are blue states. the voters there are so far beyond stupid when it comes to voting there isn't a word in the English language to express it. Blue state Democrats would still vote democrat on their way to the gas chambers

Entire west coast, northeast Atlantic states. And the causes of the civil war are still debated today... hmmm.

It's certain states thinking we are a democracy, forcing their idea of government on all others.

thanks to Lincoln the U.S. became a dictatorship. with states rights beholden to a majority vote even if it is against the U.S. constitution. Senators should not be elected, they should be appointed by each state. Too many stupid people voting. Even if they are a red state.

Let them. I don’t see why the Trump Administration is expending political capital to oppose this. If these lunatic states voted for getting rid of gas cars, let them suffer with the results. Maybe their voters will wake up.

The Peoples Republic of Minnesota has banned comrades from buying gasoline powered lawn mowers, string trimmers, chain saws and even gasoline powered Zamboni machines used to surface the ice at hockey rinks. On July 1st brass keys are being banned because of an insane law on lead content. I am certain our Governor, Tampon Tim Walz, will soon seek to emulate the California ban on gasoline powered cars.

Virginia is also on this list as they also adopted California’s policy.

If these lunatic states voted for getting rid of gas cars, let them suffer with the results.

Combined with Europe and Red China, they wound up strong-arming the major automakers. Who have to plan for ten years in the future.

Only Toyota mostly held its fire, and were able to do so largely because of their presence and reputation in the hybrid space.

Connecticut pulled back from its mandate a while ago. Others will follow.

As I understand it, most of the states involved have ceded their legislative authority to allow an unelected agency, the California Air Resources Board, to make this absurd decision. I’m surprised the people of these states haven’t challenged this abdication of their own states’ sovereignty.

During the energy crisis a few years ago, brokers were buying California electricity and selling it to Nevada and Arizona just to turn around and buy Nevada and Arizona electric power cheaper and sell it back to California at a higher rate.

Yes, power brokering is a thing because states cant just make agreements between themselves. For whatever reasons, power companies have monopolies they dont want to share

BTW, the pjm is 3 states that have agreements. Penn, Maryland, new jersey.

They don’t have to do this. California will be down to 1 refinery by April 2026. Gas will be so expensive, EVs trains, skateboards, and walking will be the only mode of transportation available. Problem will be with no cheap electricity, that leaves out EVs.

I don’t see why the Trump Administration is expending political capital to oppose this.

Sometimes expending political capital is a way to earn new political capital. A lot of people who don't mind government spending or intervention in the abstract don't like being told what kind of car to buy, or policies that drive up the cost of owning a car.

The JFK Democrats will not join MAGA Republicans if they seem indifferent to day-to-day stuff, and Trump senses and acts on this.

That is pretty much anything if you include manufacturing.

This is all insane. Glad I probably won’t be here to see that happen.

There will be a glut of car dealerships along these states borders. Or will these states refuse to register gas power cars purchased out of state.

They won’t be chargeable and that is fine. You’ll be forced onto public transit. Which is their plan.

Exodus, Part Deux coming, but much larger than the one in the bible...

If the blue and insane states have their way, we will see the mass migration of people from blue to red states.

In a broad sense:

"Exodus" can refer to any large-scale movement of people, whether voluntary or forced.

Examples include the rural exodus, emigration, or forced displacement of populations.

The word "exodus" has roots in the Greek word "exodos," meaning "going out" or "departure".

That’s what I was thinking. So when a state appears to be ready to enforce it the automakers (and/or others) file suit again in Federal court.

The last I saw the Coast Guard was being sent to the location. This is very reminiscent of Felicity Ace fire in the Atlantic in 2022.

If democrats in blue states decided to not be hypocrites when it comes to banning products that have at least some part based on petroleum... then EVs would have to be banned too.

Many parts of EVs are petroleum-based, including the tires.

Also, the roads and highways would have to be banned...

Petroleum products are primarily used in the surface layers of roads and highways, specifically in asphalt, which is a binder used to create a road's paving surface. Asphalt is a byproduct of crude oil refining and is mixed with aggregates like crushed stone, gravel, and sand to form asphalt concrete. This asphalt mixture is then used to create the road's surface, providing a durable and flexible pavement.

Car seats contain petroleum-based materials, primarily plastics, which are used in the manufacturing of various components like the seat shell, harness, and buckles. These plastics are derived from petroleum products and are chosen for their strength and durability, making them suitable for child restraints.

So, even EVs would have to be banned in California and other blue states.

Bottom line: be careful what you wish for.
