My thoughts exactly, Biden killed keystone. Rats steal 28 and the same thing can happen. No one in their right mind would want to start a multi-year/multi-billion dollar project with the chance that the next president can just kill it.
Or you could drill deep into a subduction zone, bury it there, and cover with concrete. It will be recycled down into the liquid mantle and be incinerated and dispersed.
But again, reprocessing will greatly reduce high level waste.
