“In other words: Congress must codify the issue.”

One would think that Republicans in congress would codify the issue based on self preservation.

A state has 1 million illegals and gains one representative because of that. Pres. Trump successfully removes all of them. The state keeps its extra representative until the next census in ten years.

How unfair is all that for the rest of us?

The mission of the census is to determine seats in the House of Representatives. If by current law non-citizens cannot vote for representatives in the House, why would they be counted in the census?

California has motor-voter voter registration - and illegals are allowed to get licenses in the state. Don’t tell me they aren’t getting ballots as well even though the state denies this is happening.

I believe the political landscape would be very different if illegals weren’t allowed to vote - also need to get rid of mail-in ballots except under very very limited circumstances and vote harvesting.

California is the blueprint for vote fraud.

If I could whisper in the ears of the founding fathers I'd say make it a census of voter eligible citizens for the purposes of determining how many congressional seats are allocated to each state, and a separate count of total people.

No counting slaves as 3/5 of a person.

Southern states can gain more representation by allowing freed slaves to vote, or enfranchising women. Or not. Their call.

***One would think that Republicans in congress would codify the issue based on self preservation***

Unhappily, many 'Republicans' may be Demo'Rats that have infiltrated for sinister reasons. There are a few seats where that is openly true. Republicans run things on an open honest agenda; 'Rats have become sinister, infiltrating education, media, unions, the judiciary - anywhere that they can undermine traditional American values.

Republicans are becoming the nice folks, get-along pals-y sort. They are losing. Speaker Mike Johnson appears to be of the latter. The track he is on attracted few voters last November and appears likely to fall short in the mid-terms next year. The House Dems have said that he is the best GOP Speaker they have ever had. Despite his promises, the House Repubs have done only minimal work on a budget... the result: all of the waste and fraud that Elon Musk's DOGE found is STILL in the budget.

We all know where most of that money 💰 is going. Hint: 🐀
