Saying it doesn’t make it so. He is not a patriot. Have you even thought about where we will be if he succeeds? Has he? Lame ducks forced to take bad deals with the deep state recharged. No thanks. I’d rather go down hard trying for something meaningful than going back to eating $h!? Sandwiches again.

And there it is....
rand paul is going to take over and continue the reign of the slimy, p.o. doo doo mcconnell, and do everything he can to impede Trump, in return for increasing rand's own political power....
even if it means it gives the leftist dems more power over the country.
To: backpacker_c
You misread him. He does NOT have TDS so will not go down the route you’re suggesting
It’s just THIS issue.

The Pauls have always been more interested in virtue signaling than in dealing with the real world.

Trump is and should continue to stress the fairness embodied in his actions. This the heart of a successful strategy to keep the country behind his tariff tactics. Paul is, as not uncommon with purists, throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Tariffs are powerful economic tools with positives and negatives, and not an issue when folks play fair. That is not now the case, and Paul should work to overcome what might be considered a foolish consistency, in the face of a serious threat from abroad.

His Father and most Libertarians, would agree that taxation should be not on the backs of earners, but using tariffs to protect manufacturing. I can hardly understand the switch in Rand's thinking.
No. Libertarian dogma has always been for Free Trade. That would go for not just Ron Paul, but also Murray Rothbard and Milton Friedman. Rand Paul is NOT selling out. He has been firm on this forever. Tariffs to "protect manufacturing" would be the WORST reason in their mindset. If someone else can make a comparable product cheaper, they should make the product, and you would make what you can sell to others (not necessarily the folks making the cheap product).
I don't agree with it, but Libertarians tend to deprecate (non-freedom) cultural and military concerns to economic ones. So Paul is being mercilessly consistent.

Rand is a traitor.
And he may get the votes in the Senate but he’ll never get them in the House or enough to override Trump’s veto.
To: RandFan
He better not get in President Trump's way. Guaranteed that his political career will be over if he does.
Let President Trump do what he needs to do to try and save this nation.

Guess Rand likes the taste of Chi-com pork. I wonder how much he has invested in Chinese slave labor camps?

Maybe Rand could borrow Maxine Waters’ wig, which she stole from James Brown.

The problem with that kind of thinking is that they are presuming the world is only made of economic interests, and people who trade with you are willing to play by the same rules.
If you’re a gunshop and a gun who offers you $10000 for your gun because he intends to use it to kill you after he gets it, you should perhaps not sell it to him and sell it to another guy who is your friend and is willing to use it to defend you, even if that friend can only afford to pay you $1000 for it.
The free trader like Rand would sell it to the $10000 guy because it’s more profit on paper.
