NY Times shows Conservatives with 27 seats, Liberals 26, 53 of 343.
Then says Liberals win. Results will be available later tonight or maybe tomorrow.
Canada’s election web site doesn’t work.

Sorey, America! We’re going to punish your President by punishing ourselves, eh?

Concur; I never understood why Trump wasted his time on the 51st state guff. Totally unnecessary and stupidly offensive; he was still mouthing about it this morning. There is no way Canada would have been our 51st state plus they are more in the realm of the Pac Coast liberals than anything in the Maga Coalition. Trump lost the election for the Canadian Conservatives and what he gained out of it is beyond me. Not his best moment, by far.

Opposition parties presently leading in 172 with 8 not reporting at all. If it holds, Liberal minority——but there are a tremendous number of ridings with very few votes in and/or leads that are only double digits.

Trump has no power over a mostly socialist country that had fay Trudeau as their leader for 9 years. They were ok with strict covid sanctions, debanking of fellow citizens and grovel to the trans community.
It was a pipe dream to think they would go conservative.
I don't care what they do up north.

Alberta is almost all Blue. They want out!

Looks like it’s gonna be a Liberal minority government. That would be below expectations and means government may not last long. Trump has driven them crazy.
To: Stravinsky
Yeah, agree. Sometimes he shoots his mouth off and this is one of those times.
He should’ve spent his energies pressuring Canada to man up on the border instead of this ridiculous 51st state nonsense. It was funny the first time but why he continued to press it was beyond me.

Trump is a global geopolitical idiot… HE did this.
This will be replicated in elections in Australia, and South Korea, and Japan all through the next few months, if doesn’t like this jingoistic, neo-interventionist crap off and tone things way down.

Trump did not lose anything. Pierre Poilievre and the limp wristed Canadian “conservatives” lost this election.

ALBERTA KEPT THE LIBERALS FROMVA MAJORIRY.

Actually Ontario and the Atlantic likely did more than ALberta-—at least at this point. The liberals gained several seats in Alberta—so far they have one pick up in Ontario out of about 3xs more seats, and that is, I believe not a net pick up-—they have a net loss in Ontario at least at the moment.
THe conservatives have at one point pulled to within 5 of the liberals, although now trail by 8.

This should have been a wipeout.

The liberals are DOWN 13 in Ontario and the COnservatives are presently within 2.
It isn’t Alberta voters, who have shifted slightly left in their delegation—ONtario has swung run in its representation.

CHip in with observations from Rebel News.
Ezra Levant points out that Canada is one of the few western countries, and the only Commonwealth country, that actually has a formal procedure for a province to secede. He also noted that most of the Crown land belongs to the Province, NOT the Central government. And that the U.S. is in an "Acquisition Mode". He also noted that Alberta was settled NOT by Canadians moving west, but Americans moving North, (my Canadian wife adds "and Ukrainians and other foreigners coming in to settle.") The cultural formation relating to the U.S. would be much different than English loyalists fleeing New England after England lost the war.
He suggested that if Carney continues to run over the prairie provinces that secession is an option that is far more practical it would be in other countries.
That made me think, maybe Trump is playing a big game. I was thinking that Trump was messing with the Canadian election in a bad way. Maybe his goal was Alberta (oil, etc.) all along, but he couldn't say that, so he goes big by saying all Canada, in order to stir the pot (not unlike what he did when he suggested turning the Gaza Strip into an American run tourist spot). I don't think it will work, but it is an interesting possibility.
