Polling stations nationwide are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Monday

Canadians are reporting long lines as polling stations open for advance voting Friday.

Advance polls are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. nationwide Friday through Monday, with election day set for April 28.

Some voters at polling stations across the country told CBC News early Friday they were waiting upwards of an hour to cast their ballots.

KEYWORDS:
I wouldn't normally vote on Good Friday, but my 20-year old reported long lines to my 18 year old, who had me bring him down.

The 20 year old is in Ottawa West-Nepean----the sort of safe Liberal Seat that threatened to turn blue in the fall, prompting Trudeau's ouster. The voters adjacent to him certainly weren't voting NDP, Green, or Liberal. He also reports that while the major intersections have Liberal/NDP signs, in the neighborhoods he is seeing a lot of blue.

Turnout was very solid at my rural riding---but it is a constituency that will go Conservative by at least 35 points even if the Conservatives go down in flames, and an area of the riding where the MP (who truly is Conservative in every sense of the word) will likely win by between 60 and 85.

There may be reasonable hope of holding the Liberals to a minority, and some hope of a Conservative minority.

Something has to change if young people ever hope of owning a house.

That certainly is a major point with my boys, especially the eldest.

I expect my ex will vote liberal, and my eldest daughter either NDP or Green-—which, in Ottawa Centre, will only matter if the NDP rises from the dead.

If enough people think that it is, that will be bad news for the CPCs.

Conservatives can never actually win power in systems like that.

No sadly it means the liberals are in for a big win. On the plus side it might push Alberta to break away and maybe Saskatchewan which are the provinces we really want. The rest of the country is San Francisco on steroids, especially Toronto and its suburbs.

Not happening. The fix is in. FWIW, they won’t even have to rig the election this time because the Canadians are easily manipulated.

Conservatives had a heavy lead and then Trump ruined it for them with his 51st state nonsense.

Paper ballots. Party scrutineers. At least we can trust the results. I don’t know if we’ll like them or not, polls are unreliable, expecting them to be at least a bit too left-leaning, as is often the case.

I went to university at Laval, at a time I didn’t care about politics.

But I have heard stories of Canadian young people suffering with housing costs; it’s even worse than in my ghetto (Memphis).
