Why close down a working, convenient airport that’s used by large numbers of everyday people?

Because it's only three miles from the White House and the Capitol and only 2 miles from the Pentagon and it was never designed to handle the amount of traffic it is sees and it's dangerous. Most cities have the airport way out from the centre, 25 to 50 miles out, where there would be less collateral damage in the event of a crash.

The area is very busy, with civilian traffic and army and air force traffic criss-crossing with them. The civilians use VHF radio, the military uses UHF radio. Generally, there’s a separate air-traffic controller for the military and civilian traffic, but sometimes they’re understaffed and one ATC has to serve both.

FAA officials weighed closing Reagan National Airport runway after 2024 close calls, sources say

Seems pilots now need wing walkers to get them out to the runway. Where in the hell are these pilots coming from?

Seems to be contradictory statements about the number of reps on board but what’s new? 2 or 5

Two representatives of the people and three democrats...

As usual, the title of this thread is probably totally bogus.

I’m willing to make a big bet it did NOT occur on a runway—but on a taxiway or the ramp.

Trump’s fault from the left, stupidity from anyone associated with an airline background.
