We had a snow storm in May on Mother's Day one year. The older I get, the less tolerant I get. I'm 77, and hate winter more every year, but I can't afford to move south, nor spend the winters there.
I've lived in the same apartment complex for about 24 years. I have a handicapped spot right next to the walkway into the building. I've never had problems getting my car out of my parking spot in all the years I've lived here, even when there's been a heavy snowfall. This year we had a bad ice storm after a bad snow storm...at least 12 inches fell. Maintenance here plowed me in on both sides and back. When I was finally able to clear the snow that covered the car and driver's side door to get in and start it, I couldn't get the car to back out because of all the ice under the car and wheels. I had to call AAA and request they come and pull me out. Because they had so many other calls for help, it took them 24 hours to get here, and they were able to get me out in just a few minutes.
By the way, I took a bus tour of the UK in 2006. There were a lot of Aussies on the tour. We were in the Scottish Highlands in May, and it was snowing. An Aussie couple onboard asked the tour guide if we could stop so they could get some pictures, because they'd never experienced snow, and said their friends at home wouldn't believe it if they told them. It was at that moment that I discovered that in parts of Australia, they experience winter during the summer months.

Read about a military training outfit that focused on getting out of a helo in the water. Not very survivable.
They were dead when they hit the water. Falling from 350 feet will do that to you.
That's what they are, for ditching, this wasn't a ditch.
No, not fiber, aluminum.
When you ditch, and keep your head, it is very survivable. This wasn't a ditch. Done when the main rotor departed.
Yeah, it dropped like a rock. Looked like the main rotor failed.
The first time I went overseas to France, I got a postcard from home. They asked: 'Have you seen snow?' It was the spectacle that everyone wanted to hear about.
The southern hemisphere winter confuses a lot of outsiders. Halloween has crept into Australian life, since the 1990s, but we do it at the start of summer, which does rather reduce the vibe. But it is fun for the children.

I’m very sorry.
