In 1996, Nancy Pelosi stood at the House floor delivering a speech that would surprise many today. She fiercely opposed granting China Most Favored Nation (MFN) trade status. But what’s shocking is how her stance back then echoes arguments often made by Donald Trump decades later. Pelosi’s speech was filled with concerns about unfair trade practices, a massive trade deficit, and the loss of American jobs to China.
Pelosi questioned the fairness of the trade relationship, asking, “Is this reciprocal?” She pointed out the striking imbalance between what the U.S. was giving and what it was getting in return. Her speech highlighted a massive $34 billion trade deficit with China that had grown from $3.5 billion during the Tiananmen Square massacre. The number was expected to exceed $40 billion by the end of 1996. This was far from balanced, and Pelosi’s frustration was clear.

considering how clinton was China’s bitch in 1996, it only makes sense to conclude that pelosi’s complaint was really that Chinese money wasn’t coming her way. Future events fixed that.
Cruella Pelosi is fake and criminal to the bone.
Bingo. Right after the speech Paul was offered a piece of real estate close to the wall.
We can only continue to point it out and hope the fence-sitters pick up on it.
