All the voices raised against Trump’s tariffs come from people who’ve never been part of the American working poor. You know, what used to be the American middle class. The grandchildren of people like Rand Paul will never be working poor like ours seemed destined to be.

With these tariffs our grandchildren will have the opportunities our parents had back in the 60s.

Common sense!

Here is the deal. Almost all imported products are imported by just a select few Mega-Corporations. They are the only ones who will be hit with this and they deserve it for creating the monopolies. They are trying to tell us with propaganda that we still “have to buy” their products. No we don’t... If they raise them too much the products will be boycotted and not purchased. They will have to take the hit in “middleman” profits or not sell anything.

Here is an important misconception to point out. Conservatives support “Capitalism”. Free Market competitive Capitalism. Here is the problem with that when it comes to these Mega-Corporations. Corporatism is NOT Capitalism. Corporatism is all about Monopolies and doing everything they can to stifle any free market competition. It is fascism and anti Capitalism. The two are NOT the same at all and Corporatism in no way deserves the respect or label of “Capitalism”. In fact most of these Mega-Corporations are leftist and support Global Corporate Communism.

Now here is what I predict will happen from these Corporate “middlemen”. If tariffs increase their costs by 10% they will raise their markup and cost to the retailer 50%. That will be a profit of 40% over the tariff cost and they will blame the tariffs. So they are actually going to deceptively increase their profits by price gouging and blaming those much higher than actual cost increases on Trump. These leftist Corporation monopolies have already organized and started to price gouge to purposely make Trump’s economy look bad.

Raise the prices.

People will not buy the product.

“Raise the prices.

People will not buy the product.”

Well that is the logical and rational response. But unfortunately something I have noticed the last two decades is that there are enough dummies out there who will just bend over, accept it, and pay it anyhow no matter what the cost.

One of the most successful market campaigns in this country is the brainwashing to create mass consumerism. This last two generations actually believe they “absolutely cannot live without it” as they are told by the brainwashing propaganda of consumerism.

Saying no is just no longer in their DNA... They are told they have to have it so they follow orders and buy it without question. I even have these generations try to push that concept on me... The customer saying no is completely foreign to their minds...

So they will drag us under with them...

People who act that way end up having less money.

People who are more careful with their purchases end up having more money.

The USA market allows people of modest means to live well.

To me, it appears the biggest problem for people of modest means to live well is the housing crunch. High housing costs are caused by all the zoning restrictions, housing codes, building codes, and other restrictions which make housing in the USA very expensive.

“People will not buy the product.”

Right, they’ll buy the other product, made by Americans at a 20% premium to the imported crap.

Absolute fact. One can get by quite well in this country and even this economy if they just prioritized the differences between “Wants and needs”. Self pampering addictions and fetishes are their own Achilles Heel. It is all about perspective. One can actually live quite well on less than six figures.

But if you ask most they will claim it takes six figures just to have any resemblance of a “quality lifestyle”. They are brainwashed into thinking that if you don’t have the greenest grass on the block, the shiniest toys, and a new car every year then you are living in ghetto conditions.

If folks got more practical and prioritized wants and needs the economy would follow suit because it would have no choice but to compete and try and cater to those who stand on principle against the senseless irrational consumerism. Just stop being lead by the nose ring and it will all adjust it’s self.

All quiet on the western front, now.

FOUR COUNTRIES DOING THE RIGHT THING:

Israel: On Tuesday, Israel announced the cancellation of all remaining tariffs on imports from the United States. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that this move is intended to strengthen economic ties with the U.S. and lower living costs in Israel.

Vietnam: Vietnam has outlined plans to reduce tariffs on several U.S. products, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), automobiles, and ethanol. The tariff on American LNG will decrease from 5% to 2%, on cars from a range of 45%-64% to 32%, and on ethanol from 10% to 5%. These measures aim to lower Vietnam’s trade surplus with the U.S. and avoid potential U.S. tariffs.

India: India is considering cutting tariffs on over half of U.S. imports, valued at $23 billion, to protect its $66 billion in exports from impending U.S. reciprocal tariffs. Negotiations are underway, with India indicating a willingness to significantly lower or entirely remove tariffs on many U.S. goods, contingent on the U.S. providing relief from the reciprocal tariffs.

Switzerland: Swiss Economic Affairs Minister Guy Parmelin emphasized that Switzerland has eliminated industrial tariffs, allowing almost 99% of U.S. goods to enter the country duty-free. This move is part of Switzerland’s efforts to avoid tariffs imposed by the U.S. under the new policy.

By the way, Trump’s team is not reciprocating in the traditional sense (i.e., matching the duties that trading partners charge the U.S.).

That kind of reciprocity would have been relatively manageable, given that bilateral tariffs are generally low.

Instead, the new tariffs appear to be based on a formula: ~(U.S. trade deficit from xyz country ÷ U.S. imports from xyz country) ÷ 2, with a minimum tariff set at 10%.
