President Donald Trump says about 30 people have expressed interest in becoming U.S. ambassador to the United Nations since he pulled the nomination of New York GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik for the position.

Trump made the comment Monday. He also said David Friedman, who was the U.S. ambassador to Israel during his first administration, and Richard Grenell, who was the former ambassador to Germany, as potential nominees.

“We have a lot of people that have asked about it and would like to do it,” he said. Trump also said about 30 people are interested in the position.

The UN is just a debating society and would waste Grenell’s talents. I thought Grenell would have been great at FBI or DOJ. Since BOTH FBI and DOJ are nothing but TV debating clubs in the Trump administration, I don’t suppose it would matter which position to waste Grenell in.

I really like Grenell when he appears in interviews and shares foreign (and domestic) policy perspectives but don’t know enough about where his strengths actually lie. He is one of Trump’s most long term and loyal confidantes behind the scenes.

And he is pro-Israel, also openly gay — and both would be relevant. On one hand while Trump admin is ridding itself of DEI and pride flags @ US embassies, the US typically does condemn countries for persecution of lgbt.

Israel is one of the few mideast countries that does NOT punish lgbt-identifying people. But obviously many surrounding countries do as well as several African.

It’s tricky to draw the line of “promoting” it vs. “permitting” ?

It would be a waste. Patiently waiting for Kamala’s intentions before Grenell announces his-heh heh.

He’s in a culture job now. Politics is downstream of that.

***I really like Grenell ***

A logical choice - if we are going to stay in the U.N. He was a VERY good DNI! He professes to be a Christian. He posted a few years ago that his faith was being tested. I don't understand his LGBT choice but I understand his dilemma. I posted back to be strong - that the enemy is sifting him.

He has opposed pedophilia and trans sexual choices for minor children.

Who is going to run the Kennedy Center if he goes to the UN?
