❓What Happened: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth introduced a new single standard policy for combat roles, ensuring uniformity for both men and women.
👥 Who’s Involved: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA).
📍 Where & When: Announcement made on social media on March 31, 2025.
💬 Key Quote: “We need to have the same standard, male or female, in our combat roles to ensure our men and women who are under our leaders or in those formations have the best possible leaders and the highest possible standards.”
⚠️ Impact: The policy aims to eliminate gender-based standards that are set lower for women, affecting current military training and readiness evaluations and influencing military leadership and combat readiness.
In a video shared on social media on Monday morning, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth revealed a new policy mandating a single standard for combat roles for both men and women. This announcement fulfills a pledge he made during his Senate confirmation to establish uniform combat readiness criteria.
Hegseth addressed the need for change, noting that previous standards allowed for discrepancies between male and female service members. “For far too long, we allowed standards to slip and different standards for men and women in combat arms [Military Occupational Specialties] and jobs. That’s not acceptable,” he stated in the video.
The Defense Secretary continued: “We need to have the same standard, male or female, in our combat roles to ensure our men and women who are under our leaders or in those formations have the best possible leaders and the highest possible standards that are not based at all on your sex if you’re a man or a woman.”
For far too long, we have allowed standards to slip. We’ve had different standards for men/women serving in combat arms MOS’s and jobs….
That’s not acceptable, and it changes right now! pic.twitter.com/Zn9OyBew6G

Before assuming his role as Defense Secretary, Hegseth had voiced opposition to women in combat roles. However, during the confirmation process, he revised his stance, supporting a single standard approach. This change secured the support of key legislators, including Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), who sees the new standard as a step towards creating a more effective military force.
Ernst, a member of the Armed Services Committee, pledged her collaboration with Hegseth to maintain high standards while expanding opportunities for women in combat. She also emphasized the importance of addressing and preventing sexual assault within the military.
ABOUT TIME
Go Hegseth! He will not be Alinkskiated by the Leftist Deep State.
Thirty years overdue, but absolutely right and necessary.
The numbers of imaginary warrior princesses are about to be drastically reduced, in most combat units to zero.
It’s high time.
Can’t wait for “everyone is equal” rushing to “special needs.” Not just for real gals with lesser upper body strength, but also all the BS trannies.....
The single standard policy should solve most, if not all, of the problems created by liberal social tinkering in the military.
In a major war we are going to find out that the standards need to go far beyond “combat units”.
Some here have seen the old war videos of support units in WWII, all the various jobs in the Western landings and trying to move supplies to various units, and the Germans and the Russian trucks and wagons fighting the waist deep mud and the ice and snow to get supplies to the front.
If there are any Army and Marine cooks here perhaps they can share their experience of setting up field cook stations and moving commercial sized pots to and from the stoves and so on.
Military support is not done under city conditions and with all the modern convinces and mechanical lifting devices.
Watch the females trying to set up a large field tent, I saw it once and the males in their support unit had to take over for the females fighting to get up their group female tent.
Well, if women are expected to meet physical standards of transgender men competing in women’s sports…then there should be no whining from the left about lowering physical standards for women entering the military
This makes complete sense to me. If a soldier needs to carry another soldier off of the battlefield, the injured soldier does not care if it’s a man or a woman. The carrier just needs to be someone strong enough to pick him up and carry him Very few women can do this, but for those who can, great.
personally I like a real woman with ample “upper body strength”...if you know what I mean.
I support this. I was a female JAG officer. Army. I was good in court. Couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, but that wasn’t what the Army needed me to do.
YUP.
Enemy bullets don't discriminate between men and women.
They kill both equally.
Paging Judge Boasberg.

Come on, man! [ done with my best Biden mimicry ] Make a clean breast of it all, as a titter runs through the crowd! :)
I have to ask, what right does the secretary of defense have to set uniform combat standards for men and women. If a higher percentage of women fail to meet the standards, that shows that the standards are biased against women. I expect a Federal judge to issue a nation-wide injunction against ‘uniform’ standards.
/s except for the last sentence.
bttt
Somewhere, a district court judge has already written a ruling to overturn this.
Logistics. I wonder if the standards for logistics will be standardized.
Won’t work. The left can’t handle it.
Does it pass the 80-20 threshold? If so then it will work.
The situation will arise where it's what YOU need for you to do.
