I used to describe the baby boom to my jr high students as the bulge you see in a python after it’s eaten a goat. As time passes the bulge moves towards the tail as it gets smaller. Lots of the first part of the bulge has been pooped out, but there is still a lot left to go.
All that said, being born in ‘46 meant a good life for a lot of us. In spite of the duck and cover atom bomb drills in school things were safe and civilized in a way that almost seems surreal today. Being a kid in the 50s was pretty sweet.
