Not good for ole Ron.

I have no problem with this. We have a lot of good candidates for President in 2028.
To: Macho MAGA Man
I like DeSantis but he did this to himself when he failed to read the room and took on Trump.
DeSantis had the worst political advisers and they cost him political career in the short to medium term and maybe a presidency.

Nothing like a poll 3 years before a primary
Good grief

I’d go for a Vance/DeSantis ticket.

I bet Casey DeSantis wouldn’t go for it.

Vance/Desantis
Not too bad. The Counter Elite International or “Counter Davos” is gaining steam.

If Ron has ambitions to take shots, he should hold them for now because JD is making heavy good points right now and it would not be a good for Ron.
Just saying.

Ron will not play well in the Midwest, he may even have trouble carrying Ohio. Right now, the GOP is looking at Midwestern candidates (i.e. Vance) or candidates with a national profile such as Tulsi. Southern based GOP candidates are going to have to sit a few rounds out until things change again.

I do agree the common everyday worker background plays out better politically now and DeSantis does not have that image.

I do believe Rubio could be the exception to a Southern based candidate, although Florida is Florida, it’s not really a Southern state except geographically. Objectively speaking, short of a complete implosion, the candidate will be Vance.

I like DeSantis but he did this to himself when he failed to read the room and took on Trump.DeSantis did the right thing. It was before all the lawfare against Trump became really ridiculous.
I think if the Left had left Trump alone, it was 50/50 chance that Trump would have been able to regain the movementum he needed to win the nomination in 2024.

Southern based GOP candidates are going to have to sit a few rounds out until things change again.
Florida is not "The South" and neither is Texas. They both have aspects of the South, but both Texas and Florida are their own thing. Similarly, Chicago is not "The Midwest" except geographically. Des Moines is Midwest.

The Jury is still out on Trump 2.0, but if he is successful then watch for him making some announcement in late 2027 or very early 2028 that’ll seal the GOP nomination race. In this regard I expect he’ll want to be like Jefferson, Madison, Jackson, and Theodore Roosevelt in anointing his successor. The last 2 regretted their decisions of Van Buren and Taft.
