As a woman, the idea of a 35 year old woman having sex with a teenager makes my skin crawl. That woman is not normal.
It’s impossible for some to see beyond the mindset of a happy male teenager. Since I was never a male teenager, I can’t understand all the justification going on. She is a pervert and she violated the trust placed in her. He did not ‘score’ as she was the gatekeeper.
The toxicity risked in her exploitation of her student is, for some, more easily discernable in an earlier case - the LeTourneau pervert. She was married and seduced a young male student, got pregnant, went to jail, married him. Before you know it, this young boy went from ‘wanting sex’ to raising the baby as a stay at home dad while the teacher worked, socialized and likely shopped for a new young man because hers was going to age out of her control. As it was, since she’s the adult, she directed child care, home maintenance and how funds were spent. She became his ‘mother’ in that sense. Oh sure he married her etc. because there’s a point at which he has to either admit he’s owned by a pervert, or claim he really wanted to go from young teenage male to stay at home dad for someone who doesn’t love him. His young choices were gone because she chose him and used him.
That is just an example; violation of trust and a ‘trusted teacher’ sexually exploiting a student has many types of impacts and none of it good.
The adult is given social power and trust. She and others like this new teacher-sleeps-with-student case are not normal and have greater impact than many want to face.
I can’t understand how predation on the part of a woman teacher is acceptable and even celebrated. It makes my skin crawl.
Ha.
Despite not being a linguistics student he may have had experience with foreign tongues.

More like Annette Funicello. Spain and Italy are not far from each other in the Mediterranean so ancestors may have been related.
Its not acceptable. She definitely violated the position of trust she held and broke the law and deserves to be punished for it. At the same time....a teenage boy isn’t really a victim and won’t be traumatized by this experience - trust us guys. We know exactly what boys are like at that age.....
I knew you were being facetious. Sorry I didn’t make it clear that I was agreeing with you.
Putting this woman in prison seems harsh. It’s a workplace violation but the boy is 17 years old. He’s not damaged, although the family will probably sue the teacher for thousands.
School kids as young as 13 and 14 are doing things like this every day - even in the school bathrooms. It’s the world gone mad.

I can't trust male fantasies, sorry.
In this article, MALES discuss the research regarding harm done to boys by women (teachers) who seduce them. They are at greater risk of becoming sexual abusers themselves than they would be if they had been sexually abused by a male.
The harm when women prey on boys
I wonder if violation of the original taboo (teacher seduces boy) and the sexual reward for violation of taboo therefore makes it 'easier' or more 'exciting' for these boys to then go on to violate sexual taboos themselves.
Well yes. Whatever else we may quibble about, you and I agree wholeheartedly on this point. She was the adult, and a teacher as well, and is responsible for what ultimately happened (the sexual activity) and she will get slapped with a penalty for that. That's totally regardless of who started what when. There is no excuse whatever for her lack of good sense and proper behavior.
My Spanish teacher in my sophomore and junior year.... 🥰
I just read in your comment #121 that you are a woman. :-)
For all the many years I have read and enjoyed your comments on FR, I somehow never picked up on that, and assumed you were a guy (like me, I'm 73 now btw), and so I read your writing as if it was from another guy. My mistake, and I apologize for my assumption. I guess in these modern days the wokies would accuse me of "mis-gendering" you, whether inadvertently or not, eh?
Anyway, in the current thread's discussion, your being a woman lends extra credence to some of your comments, and I wish to acknowledge that.
Thank you for your contributions to this and so many other threads. God Bless and keep you, you are a valuable part of our happy, crazy FR family.
Best FRegards,

ransomnote: I often forget people don't know I'm a woman.

ransomnote: ;D I used to intentionally conceal that I am a woman because I was dismissed then by others as a 'hysteric' no matter how reasoned my argument. But for about 7 years now, I stopped working to conceal it. We just move in different circles. I assumed you were male without actual evidence - so we are even in that regard.
Anyway, in the current thread's discussion, your being a woman lends extra credence to some of your comments, and I wish to acknowledge that.
ransomnote: How very thoughtful of you to make the effort to say so. Thank you!

Yes sadly, morals are out the window.
We will all pay a price for it.
Good grief. These 'experts' forget the first rule: correlation is not causation.
It's not surprising that boys who are rule breakers continue to break rules as adults. It's true they may be worse rule breakers but these data don't support that conclusion.
