Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on Tucker Carlson Show: Russiaâs Putin PRAYED for âFriendâ Trump After He Was Shot, Commissioned a Painting of US President by Top Russian Artist

Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has turned into a key piece of manpower in the Donald J. Trump administration when it comes to high-level negotiations.
Witkoff comes from a real estate investor and lawyer background, having held no formal diplomatic posts until Trump called him to serve.
Despite that, the 45-47th US President has trusted him with not one, but two seemingly impossible tasks: to negotiate peace in the Middle East and also to head the détente process with Russia, achieving an end to the war in Ukraine.
The Special Envoy was received twice by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is highly unusual, and has been able so far to move the needle in the peace negotiations.
The Tucker Carlson interview with Witkoff is peppered with great moments, but the main revelation may be that, according to Witkoff, Putin attended church to pray for Trump after the 2024 assassination attempt: âhe went to his local church and met with his priest and prayed for the president, not because he could become the president of the United States, but because he had a friendship with him and he was praying for his friendâ.
Putin also presented Trump with a specially commissioned portrait painted by one of Russiaâs leading artists.
Steve Witkoff: âIn the second visit that I had, it got personal. The president, President Putin, had commissioned a beautiful portrait of President Trump from the leading Russian artist, and actually gave it to me and asked me to take it home to President Trump, which I brought home and delivered to him. Itâs been reported in the paper, but it was such a gracious moment, and told me a story, Tucker, about how when the president was shot, he went to his local church and met with his priest and prayed for the president, not because he was the president of the United, he could become the president of the United States, but because he had a friendship with him and he was praying for his friend.
It was, I mean, can you imagine sitting there and listening to these kinds of conversations? And I came home and delivered that message to our president and delivered the painting, and he was clearly touched by it. So this is the kind of connection that weâve been able to reestablish through, by the way, a simple word called communication.â

Although Putin has helped the Russian Orthodox Church return to its position as the heart of Russian culture -- something Solzhenitsyn recommended -- the man himself has stated he is an atheist. For Putin to pray for Trump indicates that the assassination attempt scared the hell out of him.

A former United States attorney was found dead in Virginia Saturday morning, just two months after leaving office.
Jessica D. Aber, 43, worked as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 to 2025. Appointed by former President Joe Biden, she served in the role until resigning Jan. 20.
In a news release Saturday, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) confirmed Aberâs death, reporting it received a call about an âunresponsive womanâ at around 9:18 a.m. Saturday.
âAs a matter of protocol, an investigation is underway surrounding the circumstances of her death,â the APD said in its statement. âThe Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia will determine the cause and manner of death.â
According to Aberâs Department of Justice biography, she graduated from William & Mary Law School in 2006. Her role involved â[leading] a staff of approximately 300 prosecutors, civil litigators and support personnel across four divisions located in Alexandria, Richmond, Norfolk and Newport News.â
In her resignation statement, Aber said working as a U.S. attorney was âan honor beyond measure.â
âI am deeply grateful to senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine and to President Biden for the opportunity to lead this office and to Attorney General Garland for his steadfast leadership,â Aber said at the time. âI am proud of the work we have done with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to enforce the law and build community trust.â
U.S. Attorney Erik S. Siebert, Aberâs successor, said he was âheartbroken beyond wordsâ to hear of Aberâs death Saturday.
