He has an absolutely critical role to play at the FBI.

The FBI has become one of the most politicized and corrupt of government law enforcement.

With Patel in charge, there is a reasonable chance of cleaning up the FBI, and making it non-political.

The FBI always had political tinges, but up until Hoover died, the political tinges tended more toward Republicans (hard to say Conservatives for this nearly extra-constitutional agency)
