OUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Just weeks after the Laken Riley Act was signed into law, its enforcement has made its way to southern Indiana. A Jackson County undocumented immigrant, charged in a deadly March 2024 accident just outside Seymour, is now in federal custody.
The crash happened on March 26, 2024, just after 7:30 a.m. on US-50. Domingo Juan Juan, a 49-year-old native of Guatemala, was driving out of Seymour, later telling officers he was on his way to work in the fields at the time. Brad Castner, 27 of Holton, was driving into Seymour, on his way to work on the now-complete roundabout.
For reasons still unknown, Juan’s Chevy Trailblazer, in the opposite lane, fishtailed a few times before careening into incoming traffic. He struck Castner head-on, who was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.
“The first thing they immediately said was he had an unsurvivable head injury,” Kendra Castner, Brad’s sister, recalled about their arrival to the hospital in Indianapolis. ”It feels like yesterday still. It feels like he’s been gone so long. But that day you can remember everything just like it was yesterday."
A chemical test done at the hospital in the hours after the crash would not turn up any drugs or alcohol in Juan’s system.
It would take investigators several months to bring the case before prosecutors. Case files WAVE obtained in an open records request indicate that sheriff’s investigators believed Juan had driven the vehicle with a known steering problem, a confession which does not appear in the case file to have been recorded outside of a deputy’s written report.

I live about 20 miles north of Seymour, IN. The place is full of illegals. And BTW, this is southern Indiana, there are no crops in the fields on March 26, 2024.
