Colombian President Gustavo Petro on Sunday announced 25% tariffs on US imports, in a tit-for-tat move after US President Donald Trump hiked taxes on Colombian goods and sanctioned the country's leaders after Petro refused to accept migrant deportation flights.

Writing on X, Petro initially said he would impose 50% tariffs on US goods, but later deleted the post and announced that he had instructed his minister for external trade "to raise tariffs on imports from the US to 25%."

Philippines, is home to four main coffee varieties: Arabica, Liberica, Excelsa, and Robusta. Great coffee - forget Colombia

Update

The Colombians are threatening a 50% tariff!

“In another message, President Petro said, “You impose a 50% tariff on our human labor’s products to enter the U.S., I will do the same,” escalating the diplomatic crisis between the two countries.

Addressing the travel ban imposed on him and the Colombian government, Petro humorously remarked, “Trump, I don’t like traveling to the U.S. much, it’s a bit boring.”

A 1000% tariff on Cocaine [it’s a hell’aveoffa drug] would be devastating.

Wait until we start taxing their cocaine business...or maybe just shut it down (not too hard, just a few of our boats in international waters will do it).

LoL attempting to steal your opponents strategy is typically a bad idea and only shows how utterly devoid of substance one is. This will likely end up collapsing his regime.

I tend to see Trump coming to his second Term much like Cyrus taking control of Babylon. It is always a bad idea to be in the way of God’s instrument.

A tariff on flower exports would deliver the same outcome. 😉

I’ve read that the US is Colombia’s greatest trade partner. Well if they just want to dump that in the shutter go ahead.
