SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (CMC)— The Dominican Republic military said nearly 2,000 Haitians have been detained for illegally entering the country following operations conducted in several communities last weekend.

According to a statement issued by the army, 1,936 Haitians were intercepted by motorised patrols while travelling on foot through various border communities.

The statement by the army said that during these operations, nine nationals from the Dominican Republic were arrested for transporting Haitian nationals on vehicles ranging from a motorcycle to a minibus.

Earlier this month, the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) said it had returned more than a quarter million Haitians to their country last year, insisting that their removals from the Dominican Republic were carried out in compliance with human rights and international agreements.

Dominicans could tell they were Haitians. The only people there who couldn’t play great baseball.

Except for the US, the birthplaces of the most MLB players on regular 26 man rosters is always the Dominican. 171 regulars in 2022. The pitcher on the mound in a game is 8 times more likely to be Dominican.

Haiti is a hell hole, and I actually feel bad for the average Haitian living there. But the solution isn’t to import them here. If all the bleeding heart open border liberals spent their time, money and efforts on actually helping Haiti with actual, meaningful investment, they might actually be able to improve the lives of the Haitian people. Instead we have grifters like the Clintons making things worse while pretending to be helping them.

It has always amazed me about the differences in those 2 nations. One is a tourist destination, where the other simply a cesspool. Yet, they both exist on the same small island. Glad to see the Domminican Republic enforcing their borders.

Haiti is the Gaza Strip of the Americas.

More US and international aid money has been squandered on that hell hole than can be imagined to no good benefit

IMHO the number one thing Haiti needs is a spiritual awakening.

Look at Google maps satellite view. There are baseball fields everywhere in the Dominican Republic.

They do have to work overtime to keep Haiti from spilling into their country and destroying everything.

I don’t disagree with that. But a functioning government and the rule of law would help a lot.

Best analogy for Haiti.

The problem with US and international aid is that it rarely goes to where it’s needed.
