Ten Reform UK councillors in Derbyshire say they have resigned in protest over Nigel Farage's leadership.
The group said Reform was being run in an "increasingly autocratic manner" and "has lost its sense of direction" since Farage took over as leader last June.
But Farage told BBC Newsnight the councillors who had quit were put forward by a "rogue branch" of the party and that "none of them passed vetting".
The Clacton MP also said he and Elon Musk had patched up their relationship after the tech billionaire posted on the X social media platform that Reform needed a new leader.

Anyway, Nigel will be heading off for the inauguration so hopefully he will patch things up with Elon Musk!
Just so you know Alex Stevenson the leader of this little rebel band was suspended by Reform for putting forward unvetted candidates for election in the local council elections.
Now he’s butthurt, like Ben Habib, and trying to sabotage Nigel Farage and their old party because of their ego.
Reform has had to do more than most to root out the unreliable elements within the party because the legacy media is always ready to pounce on them to discredit them with any failing.
Labour on the other hand, get away with all kinds of shit. In Oldham, where I was born, the Labour council leader, Arooj Shah is still Labour leader, and on the national Labour constitutional commission despite the fact she is basically a gangster’s moll who still associates with convicted drug dealers and groomers and once hired Dale Creaghan’s getaway driver after he murdered two female police officers.
Legacy media don’t care much about that though.
Friendly reminder, BBC is to UK, as CNN is to the US. The circumstances are being intentionally twisted to create a narrative...
