Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass went on a junket to Ghana as part of a Biden administration delegation to President John Dramani's inauguration despite indications that fire season was about to begin.
Bass is reportedly on her way back as of Wednesday morning and "should return to the city within hours," according to Newsweek. To that, Los Angelenos should probably give a collective shrug and go back to whatever they were doing — because Bass and the rest of California's ruling Democrats have baked in the damage already.

Cutting fire protection in Los Angeles is like turning off tornado warning sirens in Oklahoma City. It might not come back to bite you right away on the rear end, but eventually, it's guaranteed to.
When you think of fighting fires, probably one of the first things you think of is water — and lots of it. And yet making sure there was plenty of water wasn't on Los Angeles County's to-do list.

Then there's Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley, whom local ABC7 celebrated as "the first LGBTQ+ person to lead the department, [and] also the first woman."

Will the left ever realize that many institutions have missions that supersede DEI matters, like those that confront terrorism, violent crime and natural disasters, as well as regulating air traffic and health care. Some functions have to be taken seriously, and job competence has to be given top priority. We need leaders who don’t live in a bubble.
Newsome hasn’t activated the California National Guard or the California State Guard (yes, there is one). The ultimate in incompetence.

California Governor Gavin Newsom used an emergency press conference Tuesday to thank Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for her leadership “in absentia” during the wildfire crisis now enveloping the state after she phoned it in from Ghana, Africa.
“Thank you again to all of the folks behind me in the outstanding leadership of all the elected officials as well. And forgive me one point I’d be remiss — thank you to Mayor Bass who was on the phone immediately this morning… uh… making sure even in absentia that she’s here… uh… organizing everything she can to make sure we’re successful as well,” he said.
As Breitbart News reported, Bass spent Tuesday in Africa as part of a taxpayer-funded delegation attending the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s president. The Democrat was in Africa as her city battled wildfires and tens of thousands of residents fled for their lives.

Flights in and out of LAX are stopped now (Wed, 1200 am Eastern, 900 am out there) due to the high Santa Ana winds. Firefighting flights too!
But I bet anything the (democrat party) mayor will demand her plane gets to land. (I hope the crew and other passengers, if any, are not in the crash.)
Looks like a major case of urban renewal for the Beautiful People. Sorry for their great loss. Will this change some of them?
