U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) said Tuesday night that he was briefed by a U.S. Coast Guard commanding officer stationed in Ocean County about an incident last weekend during which a drone swarm pursued a vessel while out on patrol.
...
Smith said, drones seemingly challenged one of the 47-foot Motor Life Boats operated by USCG Station Barnegat Light by flying in “close pursuit” of the vessel.
“I was there on the beach and I talked to several people, including a commander from the Coast Guard who told me the night before – I was there last night – one of their 47-foot vessels was trailed very closely by more than a dozen drones,” Smith said in an interview with Fox News Channel’s Martha McCallum. “To me, that is not only very, very suspicious but it is provocative, and this could be a foreign power whether it be [Vladimir] Putin or Xi Jinping.”
...
“They said they were the size of a car and they weren’t far off the stern,” said Smith. “I called the Joint Base and talked to the commanding officer there. We have the capability with DoD to ascertain where it’s coming from, or even bring it down, but they don’t have the authority to do it.”
Coast Guard operations in Ocean County come under the jurisdiction of Sector Delaware Bay, and Shorebeat has reached out to their representatives for more information.
An Ocean County Sheriff’s Department officer told smith he observed “over 50” drones approaching the beach from the ocean on Monday night.

And when they fly over the capital or Mara Lago?
The Coast Guard is famously unarmed. Or so it would appear.
Phil the drunk Murphy says nothing to worry about. How are we governed by such garbage losers?
Mysterious drones the size of a car??? Wtf
We are being trained to ignore them, as if they are some sort of prank. Trump's golf course in Bedmister, NJ may be the ultimate target.
Oops, Bedminster
DC is a no-fly zone and Mar-a-Lago was just designated “no-fly.”
All these mysterious drone stories and basic info is always missing.
* are they gas or electric powered?
* if electric, how long can they stay up before batteries run out?
* where do they go to recharge or refuel?
* do they make any noise?
* how long does it take for the swarm to assemble? To depart?
"I was there [at the beach] last night till late [and] one of our police officers working for Sheriff Mastronardi chronicled 50 [drones] coming from the ocean onto the land."
According to one person on cable this am - a drone crashed into a building. Wreckage must have been recovered, but there is no more information. So the conclusion is that the ‘authorities’ know what and who is behind them, but are not saying.
I live in this area and I’m confused as to why they are having trouble tracking these drones.
They have radar at Joint Base McGuire NJ. Radar at Philadelphia International Airport.
Radar at the Naval Air Base in Willow Grove Pa. and there is an FAA Radar Base in Gibbsboro NJ which is just south of McGuire.
Interesting. Where was that?
Swamp gas on the open ocean!
Who da thunk it??
There are photos and videos of these drones all over the internet and the news.
Have you personally seen any of these thing since you live in the area? Pretty strange event it seems. I was in S Georgia several years back and while outside I saw a triangular object with no lights. It was translucent, you could see the stars through it but the triangular frame was obvious. This was near a military base, in about 45 miles from the base.
I don’t know what it was.
What if these are dry runs for a mass domestic terrorism event by many of the Chinese illegal immigrants to open their Trojan Horse?
