There, in a nutshell, is what is wrong with so much in the USA. The bastards use OUR money to coerce us into doing things we abhor. And our school boards are too weak to say “NO! We don’t need your stinking money with all the strings attached.”
Every school district in the country believes the key to educational success is MORE MONEY and they sell our kids down the river to get it.
There is ZERO correlation between per-student spending and success.
This is why we need to eliminate the DOE and reign in all the universities that are taking money from these foundations and our enemies

Trump had some sort of university system plan that he talked about a couple years ago. Haven’t heard much about it lately. But I hope he moves ahead on it so these communist ‘professors’ don’t have free reign to indoctrinate the next generation of leaders.
Many folks have a similar experience. As they grow in life experiences by joining the labor force, marriage, parenthood, management, world travels, start a business, they begin to see what are glaring inconsistencies between the physical reality we live in and the lefts philosophy.
The political left has adopted many economically and socially dysfunctional ideas that merely have a “sound good” appeal.

The ruination of the education system goes much further back, some 150 years. John Dewey famously said “you can’t make a good socialist out of an individual”. There is nothing new about wanted to replace education with indoctrination and administered by “change agents”.
The advent of the NEA and the DOE just greased the skids.

The absurd idea behind NCLB was that unlike everything else in the known universe, every last child in America was educationally ‘average or above average’. This program was phased in over several years with ‘passing’ requirements for schools increasing every year. Since its goal was impossible, schools and states resorted to two ways to pass: cheat or lower standards.
After NCLB was dumped, we got Common Core. The largest absurdities with CC are seen in its approach to math. Introduce 1st graders to fractions before they learn how to add. Make simple addition and subtraction problems five or six-step processes. Rather than teach the times tables, have the kids draw myriads of little boxes. Solving the problem correctly is of less importance than following the procedure.
And now we have college students taking remedial classes in reading and math.
It appears to be gone in Florida.

The irony is that all the money school districts receive from the Feds to do things no one wants to do is less than the amount of money the school district will have to expend complying with all the other requirements, which they neither want or need, for receiving the “free” money.
If the Republic is to return/survive we have to eliminate almost ALL the bureaus, agencies, departments, etc., and return to the original four Cabinet departments without folding any of the functions of the eliminated organizations into those four. 2 million federal workers need to be put out into the real world. It would cause the unemployment numbers up for a while.
Universities and, indeed, all schools, must be totally cut off of the government teat. There must be not even research grants. If that happens the market will sort out and rationalize the system within a year or two. The big schools will have to prune their bloated faculties and staff and cut most of their fluff courses to remain solvent. A Harvard will then begin to mean something more than entrance to the Elite.
My daughter has never allowed her three boys to enter any public school.
