GOP smells blood in NJ governor race

Republicans are smelling blood in New Jersey’s gubernatorial race next year following an unexpectedly close result in the presidential election.

Vice President Harris only carried the Garden State by about 6 points over President-elect Trump, the closest Republicans have come to winning the state’s electoral votes in three decades. This came after another closer-than-expected result in the gubernatorial race three years ago, during which Gov. Phil Murphy (D) won by just more than 3 points.

Now with Murphy term-limited, Republicans are hoping 2025 presents them with a strong chance to flip the governor’s mansion.

“This is a prime opportunity for New Jersey Republicans to capitalize on President Trump’s strong performance in the state,” said New Jersey GOP strategist Alex Zdan. “We’ve got a really competitive field, but a competitive field can yield a great result.”

New Jersey has regularly been viewed as a solidly Democratic state in the modern political era, having last voted for a Republican presidential candidate in 1988 and last elected a Republican senator in the 1970s. But the state also has a bit of a maverick quality of electing Republicans to the governorship, and Republicans there saw some of the party’s largest improvements in November.

Interesting article. Thanks.

But just remember that Laughing Hyena was easily the dumbest and worst Presidential candidate in history, yet she still got 75 million votes and still won a bunch of states.

Scott Presler’s goal in 2025 is to register more Republicans and make NJ red.

Republicans are delusional. DONALD TRUMP came within 6 points. DONALD TRUMP made impressive gains with Black and Hispanic voters. This is not transferrable to a bunch of phonies who only like Trump when it’s election time but stifle him at every turn. Throw in a McConnel funded phony and you are going to lose just as you always do.

Gov. Phil Murphy (D) won by just more than 3 points.“

Murphy stole that race with another 3:00 am ballot dump. Will anything ever be done about that BS?

Why not Virginia?

Ed the Trucker is also running but he won’t be a factor. Spadea is the closest we are going to get to a Trump personality in the state that can cut across various demos and socioeconomic groups. Ciattarelli is a clown who still thinks it’s 1995 and is talking about property taxes. Sweeney is the most dangerous Dem, followed by Mikie, who is a fraud and an embarrassment to service academy grads everywhere. We can only hope Fulop wins the nomination.

“Why not Virginia?”

That’s a question to ask Presler.

I guess “Republicans pounce” is passé. Now we “smell blood.”

The biggest issue in New Jersey is voter theft after midnight.

That is the only reason the crooked Murphy got into office last time.

If the Republicans are not prepared to first publicly call out and then develop a workable plan to deal with that issue they are wasting their time—and are not worthy of our support.

Laura Ingram says go for Calif.-’26.

2025 is definitely off year. It would be a great shot across the bow to win one.

Agreed—Hispanic men have zero interest in supporting “moderate” Republicans.

The campaign has to be a blood and guts attack on woke Democrats.

This is the kind of issue that must be crammed down Democrat’s throats:

Don’t forget the Italians. Many of them don’t vote now but still have some modicum of self-respect and don’t want their kids transed.

NJ is full of Tom Keane like RINOS, unfortunately, and it takes a Trump like candidate to win. Further, the money from the RNC hasn’t been there to back up ANY candidates. See the last election where Jack got virtually no money from the RNC.

Because NJ is moving in the right direction, VA is moving in the wrong direction.

Lets look at the Virginia numbers.

Refs:

https://decisiondeskhq.com/results/2024/General/President/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_elections_in_Virginia

2024 Harris +6
2020 Biden +10
2016 Clinton +5
2012 Obama +4
2008 Obama +6

I see no “direction” at all.

All I see is an outlier in 2020 aka massive voter fraud.
