President-elect Donald Trump’s decision to tap Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense has sent corporate media and the wider defense establishment into a tailspin, with critics taking aim at the veteran’s lack of policy-making experience. Yet, national security experts argue that Hegseth could bring much-needed change to a Pentagon that has lost its way.
Trump announced Tuesday evening that Hegseth would be taking over the nation’s top defense role, touting him as “tough, smart and a true believer in America First.” Hegseth will face a series of challenges that started under the Biden-Harris administration’s tenure, including a recruiting and retention crisis, weapons stockpile shortages, hot-button left-wing policies and two global wars that have dragged in the U.S.
“He wasn’t on my bingo card, but I just finished his book and was incredibly impressed by what he had to say,” Morgan Murphy, former Pentagon press secretary and national security adviser to Sen. Tommy Tuberville, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “I think it’s a really good pick by the president.”

Hegseth also spoke on the Shawn Ryan show in an interview published on Nov. 7 about the need to strip the Pentagon and military of left-wing policies that some argue have hindered the military’s readiness.
...
“Hegseth understands the needs of our service members and is committed to refocusing on readiness and core defense priorities, which will help address some recent challenges within the Department of Defense,” former senior Pentagon official Simone Ledeen told the DCNF.
...
Hegseth has publicly voiced his strong belief in conservatism, especially when it comes to national security affairs.
“[Hegseth]” will be an amazing leader,” former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell wrote in a post to X on Tuesday. “He loves America and wants to protect her.”

The War on Warriors, Pete Hegseth
Hegseth’s confirmation hearing is going to be a massive shock to a lot of Americans. When they hear what he has to say about the condition of the military, I believe they will demand his confirmation.
I’m really, really, looking forward to watching this unfold.
The left media has made hi out to be a second rate weekend tv host on fox, the country will hear the real story soon and the left once again will eat thier words
The liberal media is mocking this nomination as much as possible.......that’s all I need to tell me this is a brilliant move on DJTs part......one of many actually.
The biggest threat to our country outside the Left in general (inside and outside of our government) is the woke deterioration of the capabilities and cohesion of our military.
This guy sounds absolutely right for the job to me, given that the measure of the military is its ability to bring ordinance to bear on our enemies. We need to clean this up.
STAT.
Going to buy it today.
I wonder if he’s being groomed for the POTUS job down the road. Give him a big job at the top under Trump’s wing. Same with Tulsi. If they keep the nation safe the domestic stuff will be in good shape after Trump leaves.
I thought Hegseth was too young and inexperienced...and then I read his book.
Trump knows what he's doing this time around. He's had 4 years to think and plan about how to get it right.
The name of the writer of the article is Jack Smith- ironic
Jake...but that was exactly what I thought when I first say the article. Jack Smith.
got it...
I never heard of the guy before Trump picked him. I’ve watched a few of his interviews since. Bit of a light weight, isn’t he? I can go down to the VFW hall and find a few guys drinking beer who are just as nuanced and qualified.
I see what Trump did here. Trump will be his own Secretary of Defense. No more getting screwed by the swamp powers that be in the MIC. Trump will call the shots while Hegseth watches for Uniparty daggers aimed at Trump’s back.
My view is the same for CIA, FBI, Dept of Defense, DOJ, Homeland Security...it is far, FAR less important to have a policy wonk or “expert” in place at the top of these agencies. It is the lower levels that can provide this expertise.
The person at the top in all of these, at this point in time, needs to do what is necessary to save these institutions and restore them to their important Constitutionally guided roles, and in the process, restore confidence to the citizenry in their functions.
These institutions (and many more) need to be fixed, and in some cases, eradicated. They have, at the management level (and no doubt to a large degree in the rank-and-file) been turned into Leftist tools of persecution for targeting political opponents.
I view the weaponization of the Government to be the most immediate threat to this Republic, even apart from our insane budget issues and foreign policy disasters.
The reason I feel that way is that we, the citizenry, in our sacred pact with our government, have two foundational pillars our Republic is built on that must be intact in order for us to consent to the governance by others:
FIRST: We must be able to choose in free and fair elections who we are governed by.
SECOND: The rule of law must apply equally to all citizens, especially to those who we choose to govern us.
If either of those foundational pillars are allowed to deteriorate (and both have deteriorated badly) our government is illegitimate.
Any rational person can see exactly what happened to Donald Trump and those around him was a travesty and a rank, in-your-face abuse of power by people who have concluded they cannot and will not be punished for crimes.
That has to change.
The problem with the Military is not the knowledge and ability to fight wars. That can be remedied, though it has been damaged deliberately by the purges of warfighters since Obama took office, poor management, and worst of all, malicious leadership that has tried to turn the military into a social experimentation laboratory.
There has been an enormous amount of damage done, not just materially, but even more so, the gutting and deliberate destruction of the core military values that have been the strength of our military. The civilian leadership has installed Leftists who understand what is to be done, and have carried out that agenda.
In summary, to effectively stop the flooding and begin pumping out the water, it isn’t necessary to have a former General or some impressive Ivy League expert in place.
To fix this, we need, first and foremost, someone who is simpatico with Donald Trump and conservative principles on this to begin the relentless process of excising this cancer of DEI from our military.
Hegseth is that man, because he understands fully what the problem is, and is willing to say it aloud: DEI and the feminization of the military must be eradicated if the military is to be saved. It isn’t that women cannot or should not serve-they simply must not be allowed to serve in combat roles due the the innate biological and logistical differences. And this is a fact, not misogyny or sexism. Any combat veteran will tell you that, they know.
The Left has done all it can to make it a fait accompli by corroding the military to the point where they insist we must allow more women to serve in combat roles because they cannot recruit enough males to do it.
That is by deliberate design. And we can change that.
You are an ankle biting loser. You are unworthy of shining Pete’s boots.
JOE ROGAN needs HEGSETH & others one by one on his show.
Excellent point.
