Especially egregious was that ridiculous poll about Iowa going Kamala just prior to Election Day. It defied all common sense, but it had all the pundits nodding their heads and announcing that women in Iowa were simply furious about abortion and the Dobbs decision.

I'd really like to know what the heck happened there. Both the Iowa Poll and Selzer have very solid track records, but then crap out a poll off by 16-17 percentage points right before the election? Both the Register and Selzer say that they've reviewed the demographic data and found nothing amiss, but geeze- if your poll shows a whiplash-inducing swing in the numbers for no apparent reason, unmatched in any other state, you'd think it would be time to step back and apply a sanity check.

Miller-Meeks is winning by only .2% in her district; I wonder if that poll was a deliberate attempt to cover for a steal not in the presidential race but that specific House race- a strategic move by the Dems to create plausibility to try and pick off a red seat to gain control of the House in a very tight year.

There are nearly as many decision points to ponder as there are voters, but the bottom line is that Kammy was a thoroughly insufficient candidate both in preparation and in performance. She really did wish to be "unencumbered by the past" but didn't have any coherent ideas of what future she intended to drive toward. Trump had both a past record to refer to and a vision of the future to offer.

That hurt her in a very predictable way: it disarmed the "I'm a woman and it's our turn" not to be able to articulate "to do what"? What was left was fear, fear of nonexistent repression and fear of "Trump is Hitler", a claim so hysterical that it discredited everyone who made it. "Trump is a felon" had no sting in the eyes of a public who saw through the tissue of lies it depended on. So what's left? Nothing.
