On reflection, it may be that their rights are protected under a republic now that they are a minority.
When they were the “majority” in their democracy, our minority rights did not count
Did I get it right?

Well since he was duly elected by the American people, by extension the NYT must consider those citizens a threat to the republic. Its no wonder the Times has lost any shred of credibility.

The key difference between a democracy and a republic lies in the limits placed on government by the law, which has implications for minority rights. Both forms of government tend to use a representational system — i.e., citizens vote to elect politicians to represent their interests and form the government.
In a republic, a constitution or charter of rights protects certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government, even if it has been elected by a majority of voters.
In a “pure democracy,” the majority is not restrained in this way and can impose its will on the minority.

Dave Leip's Atlas of Presidential Elections has a ton of historical data and it delves into county information and just about any info you can think of... The current election is still being counted, and it will take a while for the complete numbers to be displayed. All previous elections are recorded... Interesting fact... in 2020 Biden got about 15 million more votes than Obama, Hillary and (so far) Kamala... It's hard to believe that 15 million more Democrats voted for Biden, than voted for Hillary and Obama.

They’ve stopped using the phrase “our democracy”. All of a sudden they concede we live in a republic, like the founder’s planned. What are they thinking? Trying to get on our good side, lull us into carelessness, before they backslide into forcing “their democracy” on us again?
