I just cannot tell you how frustrated that series got me. It made NO sense on second watching and I was feeling the essence of stupid. That song suddenly straightened out EVERYTHING for me in 3 minutes and I couldn’t believe I couldn’t get it by just watching the movies.

At the time Star Wars I, II and III came out, we thought the Evil Empire was based on the Soviet bloc. We figured the small fighter rocket ships should be called MiG-61’s and given the NATO name Flyswatter and the large spaceships should be called TU-395’s, with the NATO name Beerbarrel (NATO gives propeller planes single-syllable names and jet planes two-syllable names, so we thought that spacecraft should get three-syllable names).
