Ron DeSantis Is America's Governor: Rescuing North Carolinians AND Deploying Guard to Ports
Hotair ^ | 10/04/2024 | David Strom

Ron DeSantis is undoubtedly America's most competent governor in generations and probably the most skilled in generations.

It was DeSantis' skill at governing and fighting the leftists where it matters that attracted me to him when he was running for president, and I still believe he would have been the best president since Reagan had he won.

But it was not to be. We chose Donald Trump because he has been battling the bad guys, and I am okay with his being the candidate.

America’s Governor. https://t.co/LojF2XZi1Y— Janine Curran (@janinereturns) October 3, 2024

But if there is anything we have learned over the past year, DeSantis is even better than we knew. His ability to mobilize government resources to fix problems is unmatched, as we have seen with the latest hurricanes to hit the East Coast. He had rescue operations wrapped up lickety-split and sent the Florida National Guard to harder hit areas in North Carolina before FEMA was even getting spun up.

Florida is literally carrying more weight than the federal government

They are running flights, sending personnel and resources to North Carolina. Biden and Kamala are nowhere to be seen, while NC must wait.

Trump is visiting Georgia too. Major GOP show of leadership. https://t.co/F8vhCmKeIN— Eric Daugherty (@EricLDaugh) September 30, 2024

Now, DeSantis is turning his attention to the supply chain crisis brought on by the longshoreman's strike. His pitch for doing so is brilliant: in the midst of a regional crisis, the last thing that citizens can afford is the supply chain clogging up

Then, DeSantis said it was "unacceptable" for the dockworkers' strike across the East and Gulf coasts to affect residents who need supplies to rebuild homes and businesses.

"At my direction the Florida National Guard and the Florida State Guard will be deployed to critical ports affected to maintain order, and if possible, resume operations that would otherwise be shut down during this interruption," the governor said.

It was not immediately clear how authorities would do so, or which ports specifically he was referencing.

He also said he wanted to send the message that Florida ports were open to ships not on strike.

Lastly, DeSantis said three Florida families had been evacuated overnight from North Carolina, which is also reeling from the passage of Helene. (In fact, one South Florida family was rescued by a good Samaritan helicopter pilot when they were stranded there, too.)

So far Donald Trump has been personally bringing resources to people stricken by the hurricane, Elon Musk has been sending Starlink terminals to the area, DeSantis has sent the Florida National Guard, and ordinary citizens have been rushing in to help people without the help of the federal government--and indeed have been facing red tape that is costing lives.

With 16 deepwater ports, Florida is a hub for worldwide trade and an essential link in our nation’s supply chain. Four of these ports—Port Everglades, PortMiami, Port Tampa Bay, and JAXPORT—are impacted by the International Longshoreman’s Association strike and the inaction of the Biden-Harris Administration.

Disrupting the distribution of food, equipment, and supplies as the Southeast U.S. recovers from Hurricane Helene is unacceptable. Floridians need a reliable, steady supply of resources and building materials to keep their families fed and rebuild their homes and businesses. Therefore, at my direction:

✅The Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard will be deployed to ports affected by the strike to maintain order and, where possible, resume operations at ports which are otherwise shut down.

✅The Florida Department of Transportation will waive the collection of tolls and fees as well as size and weight restrictions for commercial vehicles, which will help expedite the transportation of goods from our ports while offsetting operational costs.

✅The Florida Highway Patrol will manage the flow of traffic from all Florida seaports as needed to further expedite the flow of goods held up by the strike. FHP will provide law enforcement escorts for commercial motor vehicles upon request.

Unlike the federal government, Florida is taking decisive action to ensure that our economy continues to function and that victims of Hurricane Helene will have access to what they need to rebuild.

Disaster relief shouldn't be a partisan issue, and I don't know whether or not the delays in helping the residents of Appalachia have anything to do with politics.

But what I do know is that Republicans are shining and proving their competence and compassion and that the Biden administration can't even get a photo op right.

It's perfect

Yes, it is.

May God raise up another DeSantis.

Or, for that matter, several of them.

NH is finally getting rid of Sununu and here’s hoping the Republican, Kelly Ayotte, gets in. I’ve heard that she’s a RINO and some that she’s not.

Time will tell, but we can pray she’s taking notes from DeSantis. NH has a red state government at the moment. Every office from Governor to dog catcher comes up for re-election every two years so there’s always a lot of back and forth from red to purple and then back.

But I do see a LOT of Trump signs. Even some *Convicted Felon 2024* signs.

The thing is, in NH even the democrats like the gun friendly, live free or die mentality, although that doesn’t stop too many of them for voting for tyranny.

“Yeah but but he was stupid ron! He was ron desacntus because I can’t spell sanctamoaneeus...He was the lying ron! Right? wasn’t he? isn’t that what we were supposed to think and say?”

Don’t attack if you cannot handle the counter attack.

Not at all. I’m saying that it is easier to get things done when you don’t have to fight the swamp.

Can DeSantis explain why he STILL hasn’t secured Florida’s elections...?

Some politicians are good at governing, but not necessarily at campaigning. Others are good campaigners but not particularly good at getting things done once elected. DeSantis is great at governing. Some others who are not as good as governing are better campaigners than he is.

“He does not have to fight leftists in Florida.”

Not anymore; they have been defeated and are laying low until he is gone.

Then, they will try to insinuate themselves back into public life with the help of a lot of now-quite Rinos.

DeSantis won re-election as a conservative with nearly 60 percent of the vote - even Dade County.

I'd say Republicans have a pretty safe electoral system in Florida.

Harry Reid reincarnate, you’re back with this stupid nonsense line again. We missed you!

We folks in Florida apologize for not matching the high standards of your state, NY. We just aren’t fortunate to have a tax and spend Dimocrat as our Governor. BTW, how are the roads and schools up there? Ours are good and we don’t even have a state income tax to pay for them. But that hasn’t stopped Gov. DeSantis from giving us some tax relief from the healthy state revenues that come from his excellent governence and fiscal restraint.

You always have to fight the swamp. The difference is that DeSantis actually fought his swamp, and won. That's why his margins and GOP totals have gotten larger since he's been in office. He painstakingly has gone after it root and branch in his state.

If you only talk about fighting the swamp, but don't actually do anything about it, it will defeat you.
