The baby has its own blood type that is never the same as the mother’s (name another part of YOUR body that has a different blood type). The baby has its own unique genetic code that is NOT the same as the mother’s (again, name any other body part that has its own genetic code). While the baby is developing in the womb, its innate immune system is busy cataloguing everything around it to determine what is part of the baby’s body and what is foreign to it, so that it can identify invading pathogens. In other words, it carefully determines which tissues are part of the baby’s body and which elements are part of the MOTHER’s body, because they are not the same thing.
And those points are just for starters. The “my body” argument is total nonsense, made even more false by the additional fact that her body didn’t spontaneously generate a baby. It took the genetic material from a MAN, the father. He should at least have equal say in what happens to the baby.
I’m not surprised this is her personal opinion. I think both she and Trump are pro choice and pro LGBT. I’m surprised at how radical her position is (it’s a woman’s right - period) and that she’d state this unabashedly right before the election— Allie Beth Stuckey (@conservmillen) October 3, 2024
Agree. Trump remains the better choice over Harris on life issues, but as in many ways not the ideal choice. I’m fine with Melania not agreeing with him, but she speaks out on policy so infrequently, why this issue, why now?— Constance Crane (@TrackingFires) October 3, 2024
It could be argued, and rightfully so, that the former First Lady's position on abortion could be seen as disrespectful, borderline insulting, to pro-life organizations that have supported her husband, President Trump, during this election cycle.
It could also be argued that her attempt to appeal to moderate and liberal voters on this issue might backfire, potentially alienating Christians and pro-life supporters just 50 days before the election. — Paul Kay (@realpaulkay) October 3, 2024
The correct discussion of this subject is to note the number of illegal immigrants.
There is ZERO benefit to Trump vote totals by discussing a Democrat issue.
Save that for after the election.
In fact, everyone should be asking that question.
The Guardian is a U.K. left-leaning tabloid. Melania is a practicing Catholic, and this is likely B.S., like the rest of the crap The Guardian publishes.
Someone made the point, recently, how when a pregnant women is killed .... it is usually ruled a DOUBLE homicide .... rightly so.
Nancy Reagan, Barbara AND Laura Bush were all more liberal on social issues than their husbands or party platforms were.
A lot of people are swallowing this hogwash hook, line and sinker.
That she said this?
It seems that to many here, abortion is THE issue. I’d go as far as to say that some here want the reverse of Roe instituted - they want a federal ban on any abortions, all over the nation.
Connecticut had a law that prohibited any and all contraceptives. I guess it was written to accord with Catholic doctrine which prohibits all contraception. Protestants and non-believers weren’t pleased with it.
The law was challeged repeatedly, and it was finally struck down by SCOTUS on the grounds that it violated the privacy rights of married couples. This was Griswold v Connecticut 1965.
If this is true, I am disappointed in her.
She isn’t running anything, so okay. Some of my disappointment is putting it in her book when she could have easily skipped that because nobody asked her and it was unnecessary to mention it.
It is your body Melania, but once you make a baby we are talking about someone else’s body too. That is the quandry here. It is no more all about just you.
Your “choice” was not getting pregnant in the first place. It isn’t an accident because you knew that having sex you could get pregnant.
And yes, I am aware there are certain times that it may be necessary, but that would be very few.
Then that’s those people’s perogavative to hand their vote (or non-vote) and their children’s futures to Harris/Walz.
As I said in prior post: Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Laura Bush were ALL more left-leaning on social issues than their husbands.
It’s not Donald Trump’s job to be the messiah, it’s to give pro-life voices a seat at the table (which he does), and most importantly: to appoint sound judges.
It’s the Grauniad [the Guardian].
Not a friend of our side. I can see them puking this out to muddy the water.
Nicely timed, too.

I’ve seen stories from pro-choice women who regret their abortions so even if they callously killed their unborn babies in their 20s, many of them acknowledge the error of their ways in their later yrs. Women who have abortions are only a small percentage of females in America, so I refuse to paint the women in our country with such a large brush.
Trump did his job and got it back to the states where it belongs.
AMEN!!!... if this IS true.....
I don’t see anything in her statement suggesting that anything is ‘all about her’.
She’s saying that individual women should have the choice to do as they feel they should. And that’s pretty much what the Supremes have said. If a woman doesn’t like the stance of her state, she can move to another one.
What percentage is that ‘small’ one? I suspect it’s higher than you believe. (I don’t like that, but I believe it’s true.)
