Collegiate systems like Turn It In score papers on a plagiarism score. If AI was creating the paper it would probably score too high to be accepted.

If I were a teacher I would sit down with the student for 10-15 minutes and ask them questions based on what they wrote, and if they can’t answer the questions, that’s how I would find out they cheated.

I look at the turnitin score along with the citations and references when I grade papers. I tell students week one how I am grading papers and what not to do. Some listen, many don’t, then have the nerve to ask me why.
