In reality, because of incentives built into the tax code, they paid about $5 billion or about 13%. If that same $40 billion pre-tax income was taxed at 28% it would only yield about $3 billion more theoretically but the reality would be less because of tax code.
If she’s expecting a pot of gold by raising taxes 7% more, even if pre-tax profits doubled in the last 4 years, she’d need to find her some leprecauns to fund her pipe dreams because she won’t find the funds she’s dreaming of by taxing the 55 largest corporations.
