Know nothing of Ms. Roberts or her politics - but isn't her implication rather that the "growing threat posed by Trump" is to blame?
I am an American residing in Europe, and am routinely buttonholed by strangers on the street or conspiratorially asked by gabby taxi cab drivers if I am not also "appalled" by the prospect that Mr. Trump might return to the White House.
However, I suspect that it's just selection bias - and that conservative Europeans who might actually cheer a second Trump term are simply too polite to drop their political leanings into my lap like that.
Regards,
I remember during the Trump administration. Whenever he went to a meeting of heads of state, they changed their opinion of him dramatically from what they had been told by their media. He is a very witty man and leaves himself open to nefarious, dishonest uses of his sarcasm or witticisms, which can be replayed over and over again to make him seem less brilliant and kind than he actually is.
